Yesterday was another day of walking along the beach.

I have no idea what the bird is, the name of course. If someone knows please let me know.

Any comments are welcome.

Dennis,

Nice images. Which beach is this? I would think the bird is some species of Finch, Sparrow, or similar. From that one angle it is hard to ID with out see more of it and its markings. Location could help too. I live near Pismo Beach, CA and we have lots of birds here. Keep taking photos.

Carpinteria State Beach.

I was thinking along the lines of some type of warbler but not being a bird person I am not sure. Yup, we are almost neighbors.

Yes, it seems we do live not far apart these days. I also thought of Warbler but those are related Finch and Sparrow anyway. I could try in a local bird guide but as I stated a frontal shot like that would make it hard to ID. I had plant guides for the CA Central Coast but not so limited an area for birds. I might try an AI app.

UPDATE: The Merlin birding App ID'd it as a Orange-crowned Warbler. Can not tell if it is a male or female as they are very similar. The females have less intense color and this species is drab already. You were closer to getting it correct than I probably was. It only gave the one choice so that is as correct as it may get unless someone else is very familiar with this species. Good shooting. There are a few of us UHH'ers on the Central Coast.

Thanks for taking a look. I have no idea the type of bird. Two of my friends are avid birders and they will know.
