Um Terry,

At the beginning of the thread, someone mentioned that the tree would stand out better if the background was blurred, Vee who is the author of the BEAUTIFUL pic agreed, and that was the general consensus.

Personally I am with you that it is beautiful as is. Part of the reason we come here is to give each other tips on improving our pictures, (which I warmly welcome any trick that anyone wants to share with me on my pics I post).

None of us were trying to pick on Vee, or downgrade her beautiful pictures, which she has posted a nice sampling from her collection of which I am eagerly looking forward to seeing more of. I am a big time connoseur of sunset/sunrise pics, and bird pics, and landscapes as well as other nature pics. I also enjoy structure pics, and even some abstracts, but I am a real sucker for water pics whether they are of a stream, river, pond, lake, or the ocean, at sunset or sunrise.

We are all here to learn, and I would love to see some of your offerings as well. I will NEVER criticize your pictures or abilities, (or anyone else's), as that would violate the TOS here, and I would rather encourage someone's creativity rather than tear it down. If I can't say something good about your pic, I won't say anything. If you ask for my advice, then I will give it, ok?

I hope to see some of your works of art soon too.

I too think it is beautiful as it is. Blurring of background may be suitable for Macro photography - but this tree stands out very well against the green background trees - nice contrast! Tis only a thought. I am not a connoiseur!

Vee, I am tempted to be economical with the truth and say YES, but NO, i didn't - my daugher took the shot! Haven't seen the Baby yet - intend travelling down to London on Monday to see the baby! Yeah, I too am surprised as to how much of hair he has for a 8 day old baby!

I love your photograph! all of them so far that I've seen! I wanted to share this photograph with you even though it's nothing to do with the conversation, I shot this with a Digital point and shoot FujiFilm S1800, it's a fairly nice point and shoot and from my understanding it's just a couple of steps down from a lower end DSLR. It does have many great functions outside of auto and I love to use it. Anyway I'd love to hear some comments and critics on it. Thanks!

This picture is 'Absolutely Fabulous'! I wouldn't have believed that it was shot with a 'Point and Shoot'! The background is well blurred and the plants/flowers and the Insect are extremely prominent and just pop out! I wish I could get a similar shot with my dSLR! Actually, I too started with a 'Point and Shoot' and have now 'graduated' to a Nikon D40 - lower end of the spectrum of DSLR's!

Thanks! I am using a FujiFilm S1800, I didn't have my DSLR with me at the time because it was supposed to storm and we was bbq'n. I just took my chances and got a wow when I got home to view it. I own a canon T3i and really love it, but then again I like my point and shoot very well also...

Thanks Vee, I hope Terry didn't think I was trying to sound scolding, I just thought he needed to read the entire thread, and understand where everyone was coming from. If someone is being nasty and downgrading someone's creativity, I am sure the moderators/administrators would have no problem putting a halt to it... LOL

I was hoping I didn't sound like I was being too blunt. My personality is such where I can be too plain of speech sometimes.

:-P :P :P

I have a Canon T2i and Canon xsi. I also have my point and shoot Kodak Easy Share, They are all in my camera case. There are times when I will see something, and not have the time to set up my gear, so, I grab my point and shoot, and get it.
