Reposted here ( first image ) and also what I found on Yandex ( second image ).

That is the image that really solidified in my head something not right with LF postings. I could have sworn I had seen that image before somewhere. Did it say where it was from? I remember at the time spending some time looking for the image online the day it was posted, but I did not know about Yandex or really any way of looking up images, so at least I learned about that from all this.

Yes - I agree. I'm looking at all posts now with a grain of salt. Sad really that it's come down to this.

I look at the photos and analyze each and automatically assume the source to be the posting person. To look with "a grain of salt" in my eye and mind would be a distraction.

I was a little suspicious about the not-so-sharp "Polaroid" photos and although interesting as an occasional technique, wondered why, with the availability of high-quality cameras that allow you to capture color, light, shadow, texture and to edit your photo to almost perfection, would someone use such an outmoded technology (and expensive) almost exclusively. I have taken beautiful existing-light nudes with my iPhone and edited them on the phone.

Totally unrelated to the subject of this thread, but related to your comment, it's quite simple. I have an old Kodak 620 camera. Due to lens coatings, or lack thereof, the appearance of film exposed in that camera has a certain look. If that look is what I'm after, that's the camera I'll use.

Also, I have a couple of Lomo cameras. Likewise, if I want the effect they produce in a photograph I'm taking, I'll use one of those.

As an aside, Steven Spielburg had the coatings of the lenses he used in "Saving Private Ryan" stripped from the lenses (probably at no small expense) to replicate the appearance of cameras used in that time period.
