Taken at a lookout point driving back to El Paso from Cloudcroft NM. The white haze on the photo is the white sands blowing.

This sure brings back some memories. I was last there in 1959 at the age of 10. I was quite impressed with all the white sand. Thanks for posting.

WOW Memories. Was stationed at Ft. Bliss, El Paso 1951 thru 1953 and had to cross Sands to the Guided Missile installation at White Sands Proving Grounds on a regular basis with MP escort to discharge the bad boys. One day the storm was so fierce I asked the MP to drive my personal car instead of an open jeep. Result-new paint job, pitted like all come on. MP motor shop did the painting due to the circumstances. We were issued special sun glasses when out in the White
Sands Dunes, could get sunburn on eyeballs, so bright.

Hi mahma, I live in Cloudcroft and get to look down at White Sands a lot. Here is a picture from Rails to Trails lookout. Yes I have seen Blowing Sand. Two times it Blowed so hard it covered the trees with sand. Enjoy the picture Bear.

Lived in James Canyon (near Cloudcroft) for 8 years, have seen that view at least 4 times a week and had to pull over to take in the beauty more times than I can count. Unfortunatly my camera at that time was a cheap piece of junk, but the memories live on...Norm
