R.I.P. Sidney Poitier
Just heard on TV that Sidney Poitier has died at 94 years. A truly great actor who will be missed.
The best line from a movie - - - ever! (IMHO)
Chief Gillespie: "Virgil"? That's a funny name for a n***er boy to come from Philadelphia. What do they call you up there?
Virgil Tibbs: They call me MISTER TIBBS!
R.I.P - Mr. Tibbs.
Yes indeed, a great actor and a good person. He will be missed by many and remembered by many and his legacy lives on.
Sorry to hear of Sidney's passing, RIP.

A great actor. One of my favorite movies was To Sir, With Love.

It is my favorite Poitier movie, as well. When I first saw it in a movie theater in 1967, I was in my second year of teaching high school. As "low man on the totem pole", I was depressed with the many negatives that were thrown my way, and I was considering resigning at the end of the school year. Seeing the movie made me reassess what teaching could be. so I decided to remain and taught happily for 30 years. At 79, and in my 28th year of retirement, I still hear from a few former students, among them three newspaper editors and a NY Times best selling author.
