Headed to Beaufort SC next week. Any recommendations for things to see or do or photograph? Will be there a week.
The Edgar Fripp home where "The Great Santini" and "Big Chill" were filmed. It's a landmark.
Very near Beaufort is Port Royal. This city has the Cypress Wetlands park which provides close up views of native birds from a very nice path/boardwalk with a relatively short walk from the parking area.
Don't miss a trip over to St. Helena Island. It's very close by and has a fascinating history. Beautiful and meaningful place to photograph

Not sure if Paris Island is still open to the public but you might want to attend a marine boot camp graduation.

I live nearby Bluffton SC. Old Sheldon Ruins now has wrought iron fence around the building since, some knuckleheads started stealing bricks, graffiti, and damage to some of the headstones. These people ruin everything!
I recommend a boat ride on the river and look for dolphins. The bridge used in Forest Gump is right there. The Gay Fish Company out in Frogmore on the way to Hunting Island was used for the boat dock Lt. Dan came to see Forest. Stop at the Sea Shack for the famous Shrimp Burger and it is mouth watering.
There are (were?) horse drawn wagon tours of the old neighborhoods. Our docent was a real hoot, made the ride very enjoyable. The park barely visible in the above picture of the harbor and bridge is really nice.
Beaufort is a cute little town with a lot of history. I always enjoyed seeing the old Antebellum houses. Some have gas outdoor lights that make great photos. By the way, Beaufort is close to Savannah, GA. You might want to visit there for even more great photo opportunities. Enjoy!
There are some good suggestions here. If you have time and are interested in birds, Pinkney Island Wildlife refuge is 37 miles from Beaufort. Go to the Ibis pond rookery there for great photo ops. Itβs about a One mile easy walk from the parking area. Loads of birds and some alligators.
Savannah National Wildlife Refuge. 38 miles from Beaufort

I visited Magnolia plantation in Charleston and it's good for hiking, lots of trees with Spanish moss for photos and a small swamp for other birds, if the weather is above 75F you can see few alligators too
