I recently posted that I was buying a 3rd party neck strap because (1) I did not like being a walking billboard and (2) I think that advertising the brand of my camera and temps thieves.

Some people disagree with this and that is fine. However, you might want to read the following link on Camera Security.

I have never put a branded strap on any cameras I have owned.
If I think I might be in an area that might not be too safe, I will have my Pac-Safe strap on my camera, a Pac-Safe camera bag on my shoulder, and my concealed carry in my pocket!

will

I don't use the factory strap. My third party straps are way nicer than the factory advert-straps and a boat load better looking. I also cover the make and model on the front of the body with black PVC tape. I've even considered covering up the chevron on my Nikon bodies.

I had a Kindle stolen once. Fortunately it was password protected, but even better, I was able to call Amazon and have the Kindle disabled so no one could re-register it without it showing up as stolen.

I've never had any camera or equipment stolen. Maybe it's because I shot Petri originally and not shoot with Pentax which often is denigrated by many for not being the top seller or not a "professional" grade camera. I can remember when Pentax was considered one of the top names in photography.

That being said, I do not keep the strap provided with the camera, I have after market ones without a name on them. I also carry my gear in a rather non-descript bag or case. I also believe that by being careful with my equipment and not leaving it in a vehicle or unattended has done much to prevent theft.

Wrist straps are not large enough for any brand name.

I've never had any camera or equipment stolen. Ma... (show quote)

I'm not sure why anyone would leave their gear unattended, if it's in a location where anyone could pick it up and walk off with it.
You do know that Pentax ceased operations about 14 years ago and the Pentax brand was bought by Ricoh. They are quite popular in Japan and other Asian countries and have a strong following in North America. The Pentax K-1 mk II, K-3 mk III and 645Z are all excellent cameras, especially the 645Z.

I guess no one was able to open the link that describes the problem with camera manufacturers needing to step up and put some security options into their bodies. Please read this link.

If you are carrying a "quality" DSLR, or mirrorless camera, you are a target regardless of the brand name, I don't think the brand would make much difference to a thief.
I suppose having the name on the strap would let potential thieves know from behind that your strap is actually holding a camera.
