Most small and point & shoot cameras do not have threads to attach a filter, such as a circular polarizer. But you do have a viable option. The MagFilter system and MagFilter Threaded Adapter Ring. See following link with embedded videos for more information. It is a simple and effective system.

I have one of these CPL on my Sony RX-100 and it works great. I wish they would also make Neutral Density Filters to fit as well.

From what I saw on that page there is nothing to keep you from putting a generic ND filter on those adapters. Am I missing something or are you not aware of the variety of ND filters available to you in those three size threads.

The CPL filter that comes with it is flat (no screw threads) and I would want a filter like that so that it doesn't scratch the front of the adapter or camera.

Well, certainly you should get what you want to use but the phrase "The new MagFilter Threaded Adapter Ring allows you to take advantage of the innovative MagFilter System with your own personal or favorite filter." which I cut and pasted here substantiates that you can use whatever filter you desire I would assume without fear of damaging your camera in any way. Sounds like you have alternatives and choices. Good luck with your decision.

You are correct; I didn’t look close enough at it. I already have the CPL and assumed this was the same item. Thanks for making me look twice, even though my wife may be cursing us both

If it will fit your camera, the adaptor assembly moves in and out with the lens. Check out additional information on the website. It will not work on all compact P&S cameras.
