Canon R3 RAW or CRAW?

Have shot RAW CR3 for years without a second thought...and no problems using Capture One software.
A Youtube Guru says he only shoots CRAW and said there are no downsides, and loved reduced storage issues and faster rendering time.
So when some fantastic hummer ops presented themselves few days ago I decided to go all in with CRAW.
Of the 4-5 keepers what I found (using Capture One) was that the enhancement sliders (sharpness, shadows, hi lights, etc) had almost no noticeable effect.
Is this because these were CRAW and not RAW files and is this THE BIG DOWNSIDE WHICH, OF COURSE, IT IS.
By the way, as you probably know, nobody yet supports R3 raw files so i first converted to TIFF using Canon DPP.
PREVIOUSLY, I shot R3 RAW and had full control of converted TIFFs using all sliders in Capture One.
Am I missing something here (and sorry to be so wordy)???

What does the documentation from Capture One say about CRAW?

Thanks for response.
Not mentioned...so I put the above out on COP support forum...so waiting.
However, COP is really dealing with a TIFF from the converted CRAW file.

Found this wording online: "The compressed RAW (cRAW) format has been developed using Sony's unique compression technology. This format compresses RAW files to 60-70% of the original size, while maintaining the fine, detailed information and rich tone information of RAW images."

This file format from Sony has been around since 2019, but I never heard of it before.

I use the compressed format for the Sony a7II that is supported by my old LR6. I read several reviews that showed it's next to impossible to find any difference in the edited RAW results between the compressed RAW and the uncompressed.

Canon's approach is different, with the same overall result. But, being relatively new within the software edit market, support for compressed Canon files is slowly being accomplished by the various third-party vendors.

Yes I read the same review, almost impossible to tell the difference....until I tried to edit the files. And again, we are talking about the cRAW files that have been converted to TIFF's. Maybe I just need to wait until COP supports the R3 RAW files (or Adobe RAW file converter).
Thanks

Converting to TIFF to actually edit the image rather defeats the idea of compressed RAW.

Try converting the CRAW files to DNG and then use Capture One on the DNG files.

Are you converting to 16-bit or 8-bit TIFF?

Yes, just checked and the R3 cRAW files are 16MB and the converted TIFFs are a whopping 144MB. Never would have guessed that. Yes I did convey to 16bit and could still convert to 8bit to see if quality loss, but have not yet. Will try a few since conversion takes 20sec/file.
Thanks again and HNY.

Yes thanks, works for the R5 raw files but not supported for the R3...they have same file name but are somehow different.

Please don't waste your time with 8-bit Tiff ... That's just a large JPEG, totally defeating why you shot in RAW to being with.
