I am considering the Nikon 16-80mm lens, your opinion/experience
with it would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Augie
I bought the slower 16-85mm lens when it was new on the market. Now on the second copy since the first is a little loose after heavy use. The 16mm end is just right for street photography of structures, and the 85mm is just adequate for candid pictures of people.
I did make the decision that the 16-85mm was my preference when I bought the second lens. To me the 5mm over the 16-80 was more important than the speed gain of the newer lens, and I do not believe that I could have detected any quality difference.
At the time I was making my second purchase I felt that the 16-80 was way overpriced. Now that they have both aged the price difference may not be as great
I highly recommend getting one of these lenses for their very useful magnification range. This is my single carry walk around lens in the city.

Another vote here for the 16-85. I love it on my 7200.

It is a excellent lens with the right focal length range for general photography. Indeed I also purchased a Panasonic 12-60mm lens for my Olympus cameras as it has the same equivalent focal length range.
I would certainly recommend the 16-80, I own it, the 24-120 and for dx the 16-80 is a good choice. Look at Amazon now you may find a ~$200 price break but search it now. Luck.
Thank you all for your comments.
Happy New Year

So far in this thread you've received lots of opinions which UHH is notoriously "famous" for...
However some folks thoughtfully posted imagery they captured with the Nikon 16-80mm lens (Kudos to them!)
What's wrong with opinions if someone has experience with the lens?
