Sorry, these are not maps od (sic) the United States. They are maps of The United States of America.
Very interesting, thanks.
Thanks for this fun & revealing post!
As a teacher, I wish this sort of information were incorporated into social science curricula throughout the country.
I've thought about why companies today do not move to some of the empty areas, land cheap, locals often will bend over backwards to get the jobs, etc. With computers doesn't matter as much where workers live, but I doubt it will change much due to one simple thing, the difficulty having personal infrastructure. Where I live a company providing a few hundred jobs would be treated as a gift from heaven, but a company like Amazon would find no people to work there, unless everyone went to work for them, no schools or homes (personal infrastructure) for thousands of new workers, etc. Either Amazon would need to build everything, like the old company towns, take many years to build up, or hope workers would commute 100-200 miles per day to work. Maybe tele-work will slowly change things, but younger people often want night life, etc. which does not exist either. For example, the nearest Van Gogh exhibits are 2-3 hrs away. By the way: interstate and railways here, but nearest airports for big jets also 2-3 hrs way.

Maps Of America That Will Make You See Things Differently
The United States is made up of 328.2 million people, all completely different and unique. However, despite everyone being their own person, we tend to group to people with similar opinions, values, and views as us and live within close proximity. These maps show many of these groups and differences, as well as give us an estimate of just how big the country really is. The maps will give you a totally different view of the red, white, and the blue.

Very interesting. Thanks for posting.
What do the letters on Springfield map mean?
There was a similar type of map published by USA today maybe 20 yrs ago on politics. For liberals, it looks like ganglia (cities) connected by nerve fibers (interstates), rest is conservative (rural areas).
Interesting info, thanks, Bobbyjohn.
#3 is why I resist moving to the eastern half of the US, I want to see the night sky instead of a bunch of bright lights.
