Yesterday I had a fun outing to Madera Canyon (a great and natural birding area I frequent).
There were 14 wild Turkeys, 8 Mexican Jays , 3 Hepatic Tanagers (I think they are beautiful), 5 Acorn Woodpeckers, Lesser Goldfinches, 2 White-breasted Nuthatches and a Arizona Woodpecker.
I recommend downloads.
Hope you enjoy
Tack sharp set of gorgeous birds, Jim! Happy New Year!

Thank you very much Mike.
Happy New Year to you as well.

Yes, Iron Sight.... that was yesterday around noon.
Madera Canyon is south of Tucson, and is a natural migration area for many birds. They also have a number of year-around birds that live there all year (Mexican Jays, Acorn Woodpeckers, Turkeys etc).
They have a number of feeders out (hummingbird and bird feeders).....so they attract many birds.
A frequent visitor is also a Coatamundi (relative of a Racoon).

Really nice set Jim. I assume they were shot at Santa Rita Lodge? The male Hepatic Tanager is a wonderful capture, they are normally summer residents. Guess I'll have to go up there cold or not.

Thanks Jack....yes by the lodge.
I was surprised and happy to find three Hepatics together yesterday.
Boy .....it sure is chilly today. I went to the Green Valley WRF today for the 1st time, and got chilled.
Tons of Northern Shovelers.

Yes, It is now open for Birders. I had never been there before.
At the gate you just announce yourself as a birder, and park near the entrance.
