CHG_Canon says that there will be no new DSLRs. Considering that, I feel there is one
exception. Ricoh Pentax. Witness the K3 III. They may have puny sales compared to the
other brands but they do have a loyal following. There is a You Tube Channel called Photo Universe.
The fellow who conducts it name escapes me for the moment. He said that in Japan the Pentax
brand is the most respected. Because of its longevity and quality. An Asian form of honor and respect
probably. I do like many of CHG_Canon's wry and witty comments. He gets bulls eyes most often.

There will never be a better DSLR than those you can still buy today.

Consider this K3 III relic of the Age of DSLRinosaurs:

- 26MP APS-C 'cropped' sensor
- 5-axis in-body stabilization (aka IBIS)
- Weather-sealed magnesium alloy construction
- UHD 4K movie capture at up to 30p

Alas, the $2200 price tag seems a bit steep, even for that rich list of features.

The real questions for Pentax: do they have another DSLR release scheduled? When we say there will be no more DSLRs, that's because Sony, Nikon and Canon have no DSLRs scheduled for release (none, zero, zilch). No longer even the wisp of a rumor. All of Canon's plans are exclusively mirrorless bodies and lenses. Sony has been like that for years. Even Nikon seems to have finally thrown in the towel on their DSLR products.

Yes, I am as you can see a Pentax fan. But I respect other brands as well. I am perhaps one of few Pentax users (since 1977) who would love to have a proper Pentax MILC to go with my DSLRs. Oddly Ricoh Pentax did have the K-01 APS-C MILC but than darn thing had no viewfinder, only a back focusing screen. So I never bought it. With over 35 lenses it is hard for me to consider a brand switch.

At some point there will not be.
Maybe not this year, or even next.

When the new models ended, DSLRs passed into legend. And mirrors became myth. And by 2023 only those with the longest beards could remember a time when photography was limited by mirrors.

I don't know about Pentax as it's the first company in Japan to have camera with mirror I think. (I may be wrong though but I think they have cameras with mirror before Canon, Nikon or Minolta). So perhaps they are still introducing DSLR. But Pentax which is a great camera company, today it's nothing. Pentax didn't make any camera I even want since they switched to AF. All good Pentax's are manual focus camera.

I still have my Leica M3 and 111c, and even still use them sometimes when I can afford film. I remember way back when mirrors weren't necessary. And my beard's getting pretty long.

I believe that the Asahi Pentax was was first camera to have a return mirror. There was Kine Exacta in the thirties
and maybe Contax to have mirrors. I will stand corrected if I'm wrong.

You will get no argument from me. I was probably stretching your point, but like a rubber band being stretched
I stopped before it broke. Best of the season to you!

Walked out this morning
Couldn't believe what I saw
A hundred million DSLRs
Had washed up on the shore
Seems I'm not alone in going mirrorless
Now there's a hundred million DSLRs
that no longer have a home

Among you many accomplishments,
You’re a poet and I didn’t even know it.
