Cable for Digibino DB 100

Hello all,

I recently acquired an ancient Pentax Digibino DB 100 pair of binoculars combined with a digital camera. Everything works fine but there is no cable to connect to a computer, so the camera part is useless.

Does anyone by any chance have such a cable?

Thanks in advance, Godfrey Leighton

I Googled this
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/306919/Pentax-Digibino-Db100.html?page=54#manual

Pentax DigiBino DB100 Operating Manual - ManualsLib
https://www.manualslib.com › ... › DigiBino DB100
View and Download Pentax DigiBino DB100 operating manual online. binoculars with a built-in digital camera. DigiBino DB100 binoculars pdf manual download.
Pentax Digibino DB 100 from www.manualslib.com

And after checking out the manual it says it is a standard USB cable.

Buying the manual might be worth the cost.

Good Luck

Thanks very much Brian, I have a copy of the manual. Although the cable is standard USB to connect to the computer, it's not standard to connect to the binoculars because it is a FireWire, also known as IEEE 1394, connector.

Just Google “USB to FireWire cable”…

There are different types of Firewire connectors and unfortunately, this is the wrong type 😢. I need to find a specialist who can make a proper cable, but there may be someone around who has an old cable since the binoculars were manufactured about 25 years ago. That's why I made my request. So far I have not succeeded on the web since these cables are not much in use today.

Anyway, thank you for help Trix.

These people have all 3 types (4,6 and 9 pin) https://www.cablestogo.com/learning/connector-guides/firewire

Thanks, one of my problems is that although I know it is a 400, I don't know how many pins.

Can you examine the connector with a magnifier and count them or compare the receptacle to the images of the 3 connector types on the link I posted?

Hi there, just seen this when looking up same info for a down load cable, I don't know if you already figured it out but you need a 4 pin firewire cable. I too have the Digibingo camera.

Very many thanks. Have you managed to save photos to your computer? If so, where did you get your cable from?

I actually found my cable, in a drawer with other cables, and yes I was able to down load the photos. They weren't all that clear, but then that Gould have been user error.
Try googling 4 pin firewire cable, something should come up.
