Microcenter corporation... DO NOT purchase anything on line from them.

I have done some research on this company after purchasing a newer internal 2TB NVMe SSD made or sold under 'Inland'.

I purchased it online from microcenter store on Amazon. The drive failed after two months while I was in France. I had to wait until I was back to deal with it. Low and behold I came to realize there was no support from that company, no information on Inland and no warranty whatsoever. I dug more and realized that I was not the only one having this type of problem with microcenter.

Unless you live near a microcenter brick and mortar, and even then they will only give you a store credit. In one particular case, a client had an issue with something that failed after a couple of months. Their solution was of course 'store credit'. The same item was still on sale, but an exchange was not allowed. The reason? The sales price had risen.

So now I am out $289.00. I will regularly remind folks of this issue that show the dishonesty of this corporation. Oh, and there is no phone number to call to either, so forget any chance to solve this, even on Amazon.

Thank you. I have explored this page before. There is nothing about return at all.

All the choices are for brick and mortar stores.

Rongnongno my experience with MicroCenter has been absolutely stellar...
My studio is less than a 20 minute drive from one of their major outlets.

I've purchased at least seven refurbished PC's from them... All have been amazing.
Yes after a half dozen years or so of 7/24 service two had hard drive failures.
However the units came with a backup OS Installation CD and I was back up running after swapping out the failed hard drive. The instation on the new drive was a seamless cake walk! All device drivers where on the CD!

Since I live just outside of DC this MicroCenter receives lots of lightly used Federal Government PCs (assume they were leased) and I have scored some epic deals on HP towers.

Sorry you're not pleased with your experience however I did want to share mine since it is 180 degrees from your take on MicroCenter. I highly recommend MicroCenter especially for refurbs, and their totally awesome pricing...

Just to add some clarity here I worked as Network Administrator for Computer Associates out of Islandia NY for nearly a decade. Yes I'm a Microsoft Certified Network Engineer... After that stint with CA I went on to teach Network Engineer for the Chubb Institute here where I live.

Not a nob, but rather a well seasoned computer specialist who has taught the craft to hundreds of students in an academic scenario... As such I speak from way over two decades of actual hands on experience in the craft of Network Engineering...

Wishing you a happy, healthy and joyful Holiday Season Rongnongno.
Trust that you are able to share it with Family and Friends...
Cheers! Thomas

From that page:

"Shipping
If you need to ship your product back in for a return, we can easily take care of that if you contact us through live chat. We can set up an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) for you to ship your product back to us for a refund."

I buy online but pickup at the store here in Dallas. I never had problem. Inland stuff are OK but they are low end stuff. Very likely I would continue to buy from Microcenter as they are about the only brick and mortar store in my area for some items. However, if I don't live near one I probably would never buy from them. I would order computer supply from CDW.

Brick and mortar, as indicated in my initial post with serious caveats.

I went back for the third time.

Return 15 days, 30 days. There is nothing about any item that should have a manufacturer warranty or how to make it work.

Good luck making the live chat work…
Chrome? Nope
Firefox? Nope
IE? Nope
Edge? Nope

Inland had a website that has the same issue and refers to microcenter.

Getting off to a slow start here. This thread should be good for at least 20 pages.

I have mentioned a number of times that if you are going to use Amazon, only purchase items sold by Amazon.

However, I have read that 'sometimes' Amazon will intercede in a dispute between a customer and seller selling through Amazon.

The moral to this story is to buy your SSDs from a well known manufacturer with a MANUFACTURER’S warranty such as Samsung or Intel.

Right and a decent retailer, regardless of product.

The manufacturer is EVERYTHING. It doesn’t matter who you buy it from if the manufacturer makes reliable products and stands behind the warranty. I sold and designed storage for the largest data storage companies in the world for more than twenty years, so I use Intel and now Samsung exclusively and never had a failure out of a dozen SSDs I have purchased for personal use over the last 8 years. My oldest Intels, now 8 years old, are still in service. I’ve never even heard of inland SSDs - why would you trust your data to some off brand made in God knows where? Jacque, I know you are no neophyte when it comes to computers, so I’m puzzled why you went with an off brand?

When I lived in Yonkers I was lucky enough to have a MicroCenter about 5 mins away. I built a number of computers using parts purchased from them - at least a dozen, probably more. They were a great company to deal with. From the store's perspective - they did not manufacture the item, and generally are not responsible. They do offer a 30 day return policy. But a quick look at Inland's warranty provisions on line, and I found this thread, which concerns an Inland ssd that failed after a year, and the store offered to help with the warranty remedy. Another mentioned that he had his fail after only 2 months.

https://community.microcenter.com/discussion/4954/how-would-i-go-about-warranty

I suggest that you contact the nearest store and see if they can help you.

I am pretty sure that Inland's warranty is 3 years, so you can either deal with Inland directly or try and get a local brick and mortar to help you with the process. Anyway, I don't think you are going to by out $289 when all is said and done. I think Inland is MicroCenter's house brand, which is why they can facilitate the warranty.

Next time buy Samsung or some other brand with a better warranty.

If you can ck my post from last week concerning a 3rd party seller thru Amazon & sent (never arrived) via FedEx, you will see I had excellent service with Amazon. Called them at 2:50pm last Friday, Amazon interceded & had delivery to me completed by 6:00pm last Friday & gave me 50% more product free to boot.
