I had a Win10 update on Thursday and another one last night. When I started it this morning, it tried to persuade me to get Win11. I'm waiting a while. I'll see what I can find online about it and decide if switching is worthwhile. I know some things are missing that were in Win10.

I had updates Thursday and Friday too, no sign of 11 yet, thinking of waiting too, 10 should be good to 2025.

I’m not planning on upgrading to Win11 either. There was some Reddit chatter about NVIDIA update issues.

I bit the bullet last week, and installed Win11. No problems at all to date. The download time was slow, and then the install rate was also slow, but everything went fine.

I subscribe to Office, and it works fine, just as before.

I have Creative Cloud Desktop, and there have been no problems with the O/S upgrade. Likewise, Affinity, Adobe Elements 2021 (from before subscription), GIMP, Topaz, and Soda PDF-12, all work perfectly. My personal options work as before, and it seems that calls are running a bit faster.

I'm wondering what I might lose by switching to Win11. I'll try YouTube later.

If you want it, you can search the web and get the address for downloading out of turn, no issues doing it.
I wanted it for running android apps, but that is in beta now, so jointed insiders club, but haven't gotten to it.
I put it on my backup laptop, so haven't tested much. I did notice that the list of all installed programs moved from the far left after clicking the box at bottom of your screen to under the apps section in the big blue box (sorry about the naming, I use the things, but rarely care what they are called).

For any whose computers say not acceptable, you need to go into the Bios and search for security settings for hardware. My older laptop was fine, but a 6 month old MSC gaming computer said no. What's needed to be turned on was not called what Microsoft says you need, but I found a hardware security option, turned it on and viola.

As to loosing things, I thought/think it is strictly 64 bit?

I downloaded it and when it started up the first thing I did was try to move the taskbar from the bottom to the right side of the screen which I have been accustomed to. No go, after digging into it, moving the taskbar to the right side is not permitted in Win11. So I reverted to Win10 which it permits. I like what I like. Stupid Microsoft.

Mine did some type of update last night. How do you know if your Windows is 10 or 11?

I just purchased a new laptop with Win 11 on it. Super pet peeve and personal preference, you cannot move the taskbar from the bottom of the screen as you can in previous windows versions. I use multiple monitors and this is important to me. As for the rest of the experience, I have not run into many other issues, but I have not used all of my programs yet.

Glad I found this out before upgrading my main computers. I will wait until this is hopefully corrected.

Curious, why do you want to move the task bar to another monitor?
I have two monitors and the task bar is on the left (primary/boot) monitor.
I never thought of moving it.

I think you just answered my question, I can still move my taskbar so apparently I still have Win 10. 😊

I actually like Windows 11, especially the multiple desktops. They are not independent. It would be nice I could record something on one desktop while using another, but maybe I'm asking for too much. Prior to changing to Win 11 I backed up my O/S. I could go back to Win 10 by just changing my boot disk. Used it for about a month and found I liked it. At first the snipping tool was not working, but seems that after one of those updates it started working.

It is a new O/S, so we will see many updates. Perhaps we will see again the ability to move the taskbar around. For those who cannot wait there is a Registry hack though.
