'Fraid so. But, we have such a hard working local FedEx driver I can't get too upset about it. He goes the extra mile, even though the company he works for causes problems.

Sort of looks like it. But don't know any more than Delayed. Weather could be a part of it.

We actually sent a package last evening via FedEx expecting delivery tomorrow, but turns out it was already delivered this morning.

I inquired with FedEx and was told the reason for the backlog was the lack of truck drivers?

I shipped a package on 12/1/21 at a fedex office and it is yet to be delivered. I will not buy anything if fedex is the shippers choice. They are the worst shippers on earth in my opinion.

There's a number of reasons. The owner of a large trucking company was interviewed recently. It's not a lack of applicants. They can't pass pee tests! But, it's legal now.

Not to mention, California passed a new law. All trucks have to have a 2010 or newer motor to enter the state by sometime in 2022. Truckers take 5-10 years paying off their trucks so they can make real money. Now everyone is scrambling to buy a newer truck or motor. It's about to get worse.

So far, so good. Some things arrive within a couple of days, but other items might take a week - same as always. I think I have an appropriate cartoon. Let me check. Nope! I didn't save it because I realized that it would turn political and be moved to the attic. The one I did save would probably also turn political, so I'm not going to post to here. Too bad. It's pretty funny.

One negative about shipping is that UPS now comes after 6:00 PM. With a different driver every day, they frequently deliver to the wrong house. At least I don't feel the need to give my regular driver a tip for Christmas.

We live in the boonies, great delivery service from Fed, UPS and USPS. Three problems recently: one package floated between post offices in MD and PA until Amazon declared it lost, replaced it, then it arrived, stickable lights so extras fine (Amazon said keep them all), one lost book, package looked as it it had been sliced open by a machine, Amazon replaced it, and small item in a flimsy box sent in an envelope from China. None seem due to delivery people.
They are worried here about snow plow drivers however.

With respect to drivers, I think we all forget how things were before COVID. Out here, western MD, low population, large rural area, before COVID everyone (all fast food, Lowes, food stores, everyone) had help wanted signs up including truck drivers. There is a training center for drivers here and it was full up. Also, I remember there have been warnings of a coming driver shortage for years before COVID. So add thing up: 1. Shortage pending no matter what, 2. Stock market way up, so people retire from all sorts of jobs, 3. All too many extra deaths, some must have been working, 4. Daycare and schooling a mess, 5. How many have decided to change their life, stay home with kids, etc. 6. Very easy to find a different job. 7. Also, even without government handouts, people changed where they spend money, less travel, vacations, etc., more material purhases, fix up home, etc. Finally, economy was at full employment before COVID, how many people needed to leave the workforce to cause disruptions even without too much money chasing too few goods.

Personally while I do believe little changes in who, where and how many people are working have added up to a lot, I also believe big changes in where/how people spend their money is more disruptive than recognized and has big implications for the next few years. Simple and obvious example, is how many stores, restaurants, etc. will finally give up when workers work from home half? or more of the time.

I’m getting shipments here in very reasonable times. Must be a region specific problem.
