Looking at the MSN weather report on my computer, it looks like temperatures will be in the upper 80s for the rest of the week. That's what they are showing for Woodstock, NY - just a few miles from me. On the Toolbar at the bottom of the screen, it always shows temperatures in the 80s.

Now it says it will be in the 30s and 40s. Boy, talk about fast-changing weather!

Now it's back to the 80s. Reliable? Maybe not.

The weather service that I get on my computer is MSN. The weather service my wife gets on her phone is the National Weather service. We always compare the two and they are pretty different numbers. Not as wide ranging as you are talking about. We primarily look at the nighttime lows and often, one is several degrees over freezing temps while the other is several degrees below freezing. Not really very helpful for us.

If I look at several local weather reports, they are all different.
With all the technology available, this is a puzzle.

I now refer to the forecasters as "weather guessers"

A few weeks ago "before I turned it off" the weather service in Kodi would tell me it was 90 degrees, then 32 degrees then 120 degrees usually in the same day. I didn't know how to dress.

I suggest that you download the free app, “WeatherBug,” and ditch MSN. Weather bug provides easy to use, clearly organized, and very comprehensive weather reports for any city or town in the world.

I used to use Weatherbug. Paid for the app. Then I discovered that even though I paid for it, they track you. No longer use it.

I use Weather.com (which is the National Weather Service) and in the morning it might call for "mostly sunny; 15% chance of rain." An hour later, it'll show "mostly cloudy; 30% chance of rain" and about an hour before a storms rolls through it'll suddenly change to, "overcast; 90% chance of rain." I can do just as well noting the wind direction and looking out the window to see the sky conditions in the distance upwind from me.

They can just barely be accurate an hour in advance and they want me to pay for their premium service so I can get a 10-day forecast broken into 15-minute segments?!!

I dont think that there is to much out there anymore that doesnt track you in some shaep or form, if you are carrying a cell phone around with you are being tracked, any app you may have on said phone is going to track you. I had the app Gas Buddy on my phone and one day when I had nothing better to do I started to dig around in it, Wow, it had everywhere I went, street by street, what time I drove these streets, I 'm sure other apps can pretty much do the same. Privacy is a thing of the past for sure. And people are worried that if they get the covid shot that big brother is going to be tracking them, no big brother and everyone else is already tracking us.

I use something called 'Emergencymail.org' localized by zip code, rather accurate IMHO, I use weather underground (the web site has a different name now but weather underground works in the search bar) when we travel

My primary interest is the night for astronomy. I found a site that shows cloud cover by state. I find checking states north south and west of Maryland along with the radar gives me a good idea of whether night will be good. For me, local seems to be really local, mountains, so even report for town 15 miles away does not seem to work well. They all seem pretty good on temps here, but we very often are 10-15 degrees different than areas only 15-25 miles away due to 2000' difference in altitude. Recently temps really do shift by 20-30 in a day over and over again.

I thought all weather reporting services used the National Weather Service data and forecasts. I guess I was wrong.

I though so too, but have noticed big differences in predictions a few days ahead, not so much for the day at hand.
Also weather really is more local than many of us believe. Many friends and relatives often think from forecasts that we got buried in snow when we got practically nothing. Last Feb. was the reverse, we got very few accumulations > a few inches, but it snowed some, inch or three, practically every day.

If Eisenhower had our current weather forecasters for D-Day, we would all be speaking German...

If they don't know where you are, you will be getting reports on the weather in Khazackstan.

Try yr.no. Norwegian weather service. You will need to set it to English but you can see down to most towns in the world. I can't vouch for its accuracy yet (just started playing around with it) but it appears to be better than our local weather service (which is a joke). Mt Everest climbers apparently use it because it is more accurate than anything closer to the mountain.
