I posted this photo on Instagram yesterday. (It is a car in the shuttle that goes from Grand Central Station to Times Square here in New York City, the only two stops.)
One of my friends is always looking at images as black-and-white possibilities. He sent his cropped conversion back to me.

Thoughts?

It’s too bad the woman in the car is looking at the camera. It gives her a posed rather than a candid capture. The cropped version emphasizes the posed effect even more. So I would say I like your version better.

I prefer the color too. And it's a WHOLE lot better than graffiti!

I prefer your version; I like the detail in the graphics on the side of the car and would not crop those out. What may be kind of cool (and way above my editing abilities) is the outside of the car be black and white, but everything seen through the open door be in color or perhaps the reverse of that. Regardless it’s a nice image. One of those that the longer one looks, the more one sees. Thanks for sharing.

Your pic is so ,so much better. B&W sucks. There is enough dismal B&W in the world. B&W enthusiasts are made of grey slate.

I’m a b&w fan, but in this case yours is much better. His doesn’t pop, while yours does. Moreover, he butchered the scene by cropping it. You win by a mile!

After several photography classes I've come to appreciate black and white. Your friend is obviously one of the master photographers who taught those classes.
