I was watching President Biden's speech this morning that dealt with how the government was going to help the people displaced by the recent tornadoes. I'm not a fan of President Biden or big government, but I did want to hear what his position was regarding aid to the displaced. I found the clatter of mechanical shutters a constant distraction. I would think that with all of the mirrorless cameras with electronic shutters available to "these professionals" that they would consider selecting one of the mirrorless cameras for silent shooting. What say you?
Doesn't bother me.

Maybe the photographers like to know when the camera took a shot?
I think it's a speech and we always had clicks. Maybe you need to start watching golf, very quiet there
Not as bad as the old days with mechanical motor drives.

I realize that it's not as bad as the old days with mechanical motor drives, but does that mean we need to settle for what photogs are using today when there are alternatives that provide silent photography. One gentleman suggested that I should watch golf if I wanted quiet. One of the things that contributes to that quietness is that photographers with loud mechnical shutters shooting in burst mode are not allowed.
My guess is that most people really interested in the topic aren't even aware of the cameras. But, if there is something to complain about you can always find it in UHH.

lol so true...especially here today!
What happens to the people that died because of the tornadoes or who where displaced is of no interest to you?
Using the appropriate microphone (one with high directionality, aimed directly at the speaker and positioned in front of the cameras), camera noise shouldn't really be an issue.

Of course they do.
What is of no interest to me is is your whining about mechanical shutters. I was able to hear and understand the president. If you couldn’t, maybe that means you are too easily distracted.
I don’t comment on politics on the Hog. So I am going to tell you that the majority of the photographers, even at that level, shot with their own equipment. A lot of them aren’t going to spent good money on the mirrorless cameras when they already have perfectly good and expensive full frame cameras. In my experience, very few employers are springing to buy these people gear.
Imagine a silent world of mirrorless swans. The slap of a mirror will shortly be treated like lighting a cigarette indoors. You and your obnoxious loud camera will be asked to leave.
