Here's a few from last weekends event, the early morning lighting being interesting but at least no rain which is usually the greatest challenge.
All shot with a Z6 and 70-200 f2.8, my normal camera for this sport has been the D800. I'd be interested in any comments regarding areas for improvement.

Grahame,
Excellent separation between the runners and background with your shallow depth of field, your 70-200mm did a great job. These are excellent pictures. What was your camera settings for all these pictures.

Thanks for commenting.
These events generally start very early in the mornings, sometimes well before sunrise so it's always a bit of a tricky balance until full light. I'll post a few from a race event the previous week.

The first two being my first ever use of 'Auto Area AF Subject Tracking'.
Absolutely fabulous set Grahame... Speaks well for your superb mastery of the craft...
Epic pivotal moments all! Loving the vivid color harmonies latent within...
Thank you so much for providing your settings Grahame, allows others to benefit and grow in their craft also.
As for 'Auto Area AF Subject Tracking'?
Nikon Professional Services offers this (wisdom)

I've often struggled myself with an AF-S 200-500mm f/5.6 in a simular scenario where I'm certain I had a "clean lock" on Soccer Players yet far too many of the captures seems to suffer from a lag in the SW AF motor moving those large lens elements quickly enough to track effectively. Note: Players running toward me (typically forward) since I'm shooting the player's face. Don't believe it is an issue with my D810 AF system implementation since I'm getting virtually flawless captures with my AF-S 200-400mm f/4G IF ED VR Nikkor on my D810. It appears your AF 70-200 f2.8 is most certainly up to the task especially on your Z6!
Again, so very beautifully rendered... Looking forward to more of your 10K and Half 1/2 Marathon events!
