No, I had to first copy the image from the original FD and then insert the second FD to receive the "Paste" command so the two drives were not in my computer at the same time. The seond FD already contained the two images I had copied from "Pictures".

Sorry, still not following what you did.

On the source FD, I clicked "Copy" on three images. I then went to the 2d, or target FD, and clicked "Paste". At that point an error message appeared that said there was no image, or images, to paste. This is the same procedure I use when copying from my computer memory to a FD and have never had any problems. It is, however, the first time I have tried copying from one FD to a second FD.

I do it all the time - no reason it shouldn't work. Try dragging and dropping from one drive to the other.

I stored a lot of images on a flash drive and from time to time since I have activated that flash drive with no problems.

I hope you have your pictures on more then one memory card.
Sounds like you've been lucky so far.
I used to do third party computer service and can't tell how many times I had to look into peoples eyes tearing up
when their one and only drive of any kind dies.
Always without warning.
All their pictures gone.
I've had more then a half dozen of those cards (usb thumb drives, SD cards) go bad over the years.
All my data, pictures, text, url's are stored on five hard drives.
Yep spinners.
I have a pair of 16 year old 80 gb drives with old data on them and they perform flawlessly.

Hmm....16 year old 80 gb drives? Hope they make it 17. And, how can that be sufficient space? I use a pair or 4 TB drives.

I have them for one reason only.
When I read about people criticizing using spinners instead of SSD's for backups I bring them up.
I fire them up once in a while so I can use them as an example of why people don't need SSD's for backing up data.
For the cost of one SSD you can buy multiple spinners where there is safety in numbers.
And I'm not talking about drive reliability, I'm talking about simple human error.

Possibly when one dismounts a device copied from (before pasting it), it empties the copy buffer???
That would be my guess.

Both flash drives have to be inserted at the same time for this to work. No actual file copying has been done before you click Paste, only the instruction to copy the files on the flash drive. If you don't have a way to insert both flash drives at the same time, then copy your files to your computer first and then transfer them to the second flash drive.

Tonight I opened the flash drive as usual but instead of images appearing, all that came up was a list of the images on the flash drive. Apparently I have done something wrong, hit the wrong button etc., for the program to switch from images to a list. I now have to click on each individual item to bring up the image whereas previously they all appeared at once when I clicked on the program. Can anyone suggest how to go back to having the images appear automatically? I am using Windows 10/Pictures and have never had any problems with Pictures. I searched the several W10 manuals I have but could find no reference to this problem, much less how to correct it. Any advice on how to correct my error will be greatly appreciated.

If Windows, open the drive in Windows Explorer, select what ever size thumbnail you want and click away. Somehow, you selected "Details" when viewing previously.
