Yes and no. It's not poisonous or anything, just extremely salty.

From NPS Web site: Stories suggest that Badwater Basin earned its name when a mule belonging to an early surveyor refused to drink from the spring-fed pool near the present-day boardwalk. However, the water here is not truly “bad,” just very salty. Despite this high salinity, many organisms not only survive, but thrive here. The pool is home to an endemic snail naturally found only at this location, and its rim is dotted with salt tolerant plants, including pickleweed.

Memories. I went there in 1985 with my then 3 year old son. The temperature was 130 degrees and the blisteringly hot wind blew my son off his feet. So keen to get back into the air conditioned RV that I hardly took any photos.

Nice post processing.

Thanks for commenting Nigel. This was taken in late October and the temperature was quite comfortable as I remember

Thanks for commenting Frank. I put the grain in there intentionally because it's how I remember enlarged and pushed Kodak Plus X looked. Could be wrong my memory ain't what it used to be
