Here are a couple of abandoned buildings I came across on a trip to/from Shawnee OK recently. They caught my eye on the way up, and I stopped on the way back to get shots of them. I'm not sure why they caught my eye, but I just felt that the church says something about religion - I don't really know what, and the house is not the normal run of the mill shack. Your thoughts?

Beautiful images, both structures look too nice to be left to decay.

Very interesting photos. I have seen other abandoned homes, barns, etc on trips and often wonder what the story is that led them to be abandoned.

A lot of rural and small town areas are losing population (bigger mechanized farms/ranches and moving to larger towns and cities for jobs etc.) and a lot of very fine buildings are being left empty.

I love them, but the awesome stained glass needs some lightening ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Too bad, in any event.

It's sad. Whenever I see pictures like this and others that were constructed of wood/logs. My first thought is why doesn't someone, a company come in and dismantle these buildings and repurpose the material. Then of course my other brain kicks in and it would probably not be very cost-effective.

Farm and ranching is hard work and for many of the younger folks, the pay doesn't justify it so they head for the cities. And when the elders die, their property is sold, often to big corporations, or it's abandoned. Such is life in rural America.

I love the photographs. Thanks for showing them.
