Does anybody have experience, good or bad, with the 1ink.com inks for Canon PIXMA series printers? Much cheaper than Canon ink, which I have used exclusively. Print longevity?

I have zero experience with 3rd party inks or Canon printers, but what I do know is that OME inks are a tremendous ripoff. They all make major bucks from selling ink, and they do it by threatening to cancel your warranty if you use any other ink. It is a type of extortion that would not be tolerated in other industries.

The cost of printers is low to encourage the use of OME inks. If you use non-IME inks they in my experience work well and so what about the warranty. IF the printer fails, they are cheap to re-buy.

First: I use LD Ink Cartridges. Way better prices.
Second: Using other then OEM inks does not void your warranty.

"The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act" Prohibits the MGF. of the printer you are using from voiding the warranty.

I too use LD Products, good prices and on the rare occasion that a cartridge is not recognized by my printer, LD replaces without question.

Always use 3rd party inks. Haven't lived long enough to comment on longevity of prints. Another few years and it won't matter!

Not familiar with this one but I just started using Precision Color and after filling just one cartridge so far, it seems to work just fine. There have been other discussions here about 3rd party inks, so do a search and you will probably find plenty of information.

Precision Color. Get company great support icc profiles and great service and products. I use them for my PIXMA 8200 and 8300 series printers and have used them for others.

Add one more to the LD contingent. I usually keep a complete set in reserve. When doing a lot of printing, sometimes a second set. I had a printer fail and the new one did not take the same cartridges. I contacted LD to see what they could do for me, if anything as I was WAY out of the normal return window. While they did not return my money, they gave me store credit, which was just as good! Very good experience with them.

Technically you are correct. Please note my use of the work "threatening." Having said that, they will deny warranty claims all day long for using non-OME inks. Throw the law at them all you want, they don't care. Balance the cost of fighting them and their resources and the cost of a lawyer vs the cost of a new printer.

Also notice how the warranties are worded. They always say "use of other inks MAY void your warranty." The use of the word "may" is a small technicality but it gets them around the law.

I have used them in the past for my HP printer. They are good but sometimes it takes a while to receive package. I recently have tried a site called inktoner. Prices are a bit cheaper and service was faster

I see you’re on LI, so you might want to try Inkredible Ink. I’ve been using them for the past few years without any problems at all, and now refuse to buy OME ink. They have 2 locations-Lindenhurst and Islip.

It depends on whether you want ink from Canon long lasting ink or a cheaper ink for photos or just printer ink for ordinary work.

There are many places with cheaper ink if you want that type. You get what you pay for in quality.
The cheaper inks for your personal satisfaction of your work

Another thing to think about is that around the year of 2012 many manufacturers of Printers tried to eliminate their ink competition and started putting chips in their ink carts in order to stop other ink manufactures from being used in the printers. The chips would identify a 'foreign" ink cart and stop the print.
Therefor trying to stop the competition and continue high profits for the printer companies.

I totally agree! I use Precision Colors in my Epson R3000 and can’t tell the difference from OEM ink!
