Think about it!
In front of one of US’s top hospitals.
Yes, we need more nurses.
I think the operative phrase is "up to". Most people ignore it. 😉

Perhaps it's due to a shortage of nurses as a rsult of the hospital's requirement that al employees take the covid vaccinations - quite a few medical professionals have refused.

No it is not due to the vaccine requirements. There has been a nursing shortage for years. The shortage has been worsening as the average age of a nurse has been climbing. Patient population continue to grow because of aging and because the U.S. population grows.
Covid has dramatically increased the number of hospitalized patients throughout the country to well above 100% capacity.
Nurses are leaving the profession at record rates D/T burnout/exhaustion.
It takes at least 2 years to produce an inexperienced RN and money. You also need school program slots for interested students.

Nope! The workload from Covid has been exhausting - and depressing. My area has 98% compliance with the vaccine among hospital workers. Nurses are leaving in large numbers to become traveling nurses. They can triple their income and take time off whenever they want. They accept positions at different hospitals for a few weeks. Then they leave and accept another assignment - or not.
Our country thrives on paying as little as possible and getting all they can out of their workers. Because of this and Covid, many people have left their jobs.
America is suffering from a culture shift where many of the younger generations are under-educated making entry into high skilled jobs beyond them. Others see liberal arts as a career path only to find that specific skill jobs bring the best opportunity for employment which leaves them out.
Then, sadly, there are many that believe that being an internet "social influencer" is where they will seek their fortunes so they stay glued to producing an endless number of videos for YouTube and other social media outlets. Of course there as some that just prefer to suckle on the tit of anyone that will support them rather than them supporting themselves.
However, have no fear, for the influx of millions crossing the border will soon fill all of the jobs available as they seek to build a good life for themselves and their families. We may just need to speak multiple languages for awhile in order to understand what they are saying to us.

It is not believable because it is wrong

I have worked in construction for most of my life. I value people who have integrity and do not fear hard work. Some of my best friends have been Americans possessing such qualities. Most of the people I have worked with from Mexico and further south are such people.
Most comments here have barely scratched the surface of only one of the many reasons for shortages in nursing staff in the US.

Don't they already come 'inexperienced' ?

And, they begin to get their experience on the midnight shift where they learn, among many other things, how to take your vitals every hour or two hours.
Not their fault, though. Somebody above their paygrade wrote the orders.
Joking around or not, we love them all, because we can’t do without them.
