Has anyone used K&F filters. I’m looking for a 95mm CPL filter and really trying to keep cost down if possible. Looking for opinions on quality.

Keep in mind that once you attach a filter it becomes part of the optical system. Cutting corners on cost is like happily using inferior glass in a lens.

I know about adding glass to a lens. I rarely if ever use any filters, it’s been years since I’v used one, which is why I don’t want to spend too much on a CPL filter.

I use a 72mm K&F CPL filter and it seems pretty good.

They make different qualities. I bought their "best" multi-coated (18 layer?) German Schott glass filter version. Seems really good for the money, so far.

Frame is aluminum, but other than that is seems similar quality to the B+W filters I usually use.... The K&F is made in China instead of Germany and when I bought it was less than half the price of a comparable B+W (whose CPL are already considerably less costly than most other brands of similar quality).

The rotation was a bit stiff at first, but seems to be loosening up with a little use.

I still haven't had a whole lot of occasion to use it.... but quite happy with it so far.

I was also looking for some ND filters from K&F.... but they seem to have discontinued the fixed strength and now only be offering variable ND, which isn't what I want. Ideally I'd like to get a 3 stop and a 6 stop.

95mm is quite large (and pricey). What lens are you planning to use the filter on?

The reason I ask is because I mostly only see that large filter on big telephotos, where I very rarely use CPL filters. Not saying "never"... just pretty rare. I've got a drop-in CPL for my 300/2.8 and 500/4, but have probably only used it a couple dozen times over 20 years.

From another perspective.
If one can afford a lens that requires a 95mm filter, $200 for a quality CPL does not seem at all unreasonable.

I have a few K&F VNDs. (Should have bought one big one with step-down rings). Very happy with the quality. On wide lenses, there is some vignetting only at the maximum ND settings, but that's to be expected.

I've had good luck with KEH. Sometimes on their incoming uses lenses, some fancy filters are attached. I've gotten B+W And Heliopan filters and ultra thin sizes, too for 15-24% of retail in perfect condition.

God luck, Buy big and adapt down to keep filter count to a minimum.

Love K&F filters, excellent quality. Here I used their combo VND/CPL filter for this 3 minute long time exposure of part of the Las Vegas strip, shot through the window glass of my room at the Excalibur Resort. The VND helped gave me the long exposure time I need to capture the car light trails, and the CPL got rid of the window reflections.

Sony A7RIV camera, Sigma Art 24-70mm f2.8 DG DN lens, 24mm, ISO 50, f8, 180 seconds exposure.
