It is the BEST out here - see the Ken Rockwell review .....yes, I have one but have not really used it yet - can't get it away from my wife !
.
I believe it's the gold standard for it's class.
Thnx …, for your replies everyone …
I have been using the Nikon P950. The zoom range is 2000 vs 600 of the Sony. But from what I've read the Sony has a better lens and low-light performance.

It sure does .. and with the 1’
“ sensor …and 2.8-4.0 across the zoom range .., it is much clearer … it’s an expensive Bridge at $1,500 …, so far I haven’t read reviews of anything better …
I’ve been using one for two years and love it. A warning, though, there are so many options that wading through the menu selections can be daunting. I highly recommend two books on the RX10 IV—one by Alexander White and another by Gary Friedman—and start learning well before your trip.

How about the . . . Sony RX100 MK VII
24~200mm (equivalent) f/2.8~4.5
Silent 20 FPS @ 20MP, 4K HDR
World's Best Pocket, Travel & Vacation Camera (2019-)
https://www.kenrockwell.com/sony/rx100-vii.htmIMHO, I have tried it and it has a 1" sensor and it gave amazing results indoors w/o a flash.
The ONLY negative is that heavy cropping is not possible without using Topaz Gigapixel or a similar product afterwards.

I don't believe that with your 4 qualification items listed, that you have any other choice. Do you??
Buy it and enjoy it in good health.

Can’t be more complicated than my D800E .. D810 .. & D850 …that being said .., As I have a huge book on the D850 .., like ways .., I would purchase one of those you recommended and be familiar with this RX10 IV camera before using it ..
I often wonder if I could achieve as good or better results taking my D850 and just 1 lens .. the best zoom range Nikon Makes …
The only complaint I have heard about the RX10 IV .., and I know it is weather sealed .., but I hear it sucks in dust zooming in and out like a 200-500 does … and that what ever you do .., stay away from a used one for this reason ..
Thnx for your reply …
My personal experience is that my wife has one and I don't! Then, for travel days that the RX10 IV is too bulky for her tastes, she bought a RX100 VA to go with it! It seems that there are places to go that it all has to fit in a purse. Her best settings? Automatic. And, it really works too well.
After doing travel photography in more than 60 nations, I too have settled on the Sony RX10 M4 in place of multiple lens Sony, Olympus, Nikon, and Canon outfits. At 2.5 pounds and a 25-600mm breadth, there's nothing on the planet that can match it unless you're going to do print larger than 16x20" regularly. Also, you never have to go for changing lenses in the field or schlepping 20 pounds of gear with you on a trip.

Thaz to be expected. That extra range is obviously just an extra small sensor.

You shouldn't have any trouble learning the RX10, then. I'd say the White book is probably best if you're getting just one. There is a lot of overlap between the two books, obviously, but I got different and useful info out of each.
I don't know what you plan to take pictures of, but I wonder if you could get the 24-600mm equiv. range with an acceptable weight and price if you went with the single lens on your D850.
This is the first I've heard of a lens dust problem. I can say that it hasn't been a problem for me in two years of mostly wildlife photography in natural environments. And I walk around with the lens fully extended, frequently zooming in to 24mm and back out to 600mm and points in-between. That said, I probably would not get a used one with the new price being $1500-$1600. I was able to save $300 by getting an "open box" discount from Adorama.
Hi,
I have the RX 10 IV. I love it. I find it easy to use and the results are excellent. I make photo books of all our trips and I do a lot of 11x17 prints , both with excellent results.
Only disadvantage is that it is a very heavy piece of gear.
