They forgot the Brooklyn Dodgers football team. They played from 1930-1943.
On December 7, 1941, the Dodgers were playing the Giants. My father took my Uncle to the game. During the game the announcer came on to announce that military servicemen were to report for duty immediately. This is how and where my father learned of the Pearl Harbor tragedy.
After the war, my father and Uncle would speak with each other on Dec 7 and starting with the game talk about the war and those times.
After my father passed away, my Uncle would call me.
Now my Uncle has passed, and I will be calling my cousin to continue the tradition.

My FIRST pro football game was between the San Francisco 49'ers AND, wait for it. . .the New York Yankees (coached by Ray Flaherty--no relation) in 1946 at old Kezar Stadium in San Francisco. Frankie Albert was the QB; Norm Standlee was the FB and Buck Shaw was the coach. The Cleveland Browns won the Championship EVERY year the AAC was in operation. And, the 49'ers and the Browns were the ONLY teams that went into the NFL.

I love these little snippets of history that we have sprinkled into our forum from time to time. There's nothing to argue about, and often something to learn. Thank you.
