Old equipment trade-in discount?

For fun I decided to see what Nikon would offer for my D7000 towards the purchase of a new Z model. I know it's an old camera but it's worth more than the $95 Nikon offered to me. It's a good thing I didn't want a Z camera.

The 200-500 is on sale at Nikon USA and authorized retailers for $1099.95. All authorized Nikon USA retailers will always have the same price as the Nikon USA site. See if your local store has one in stock. If not, see if they can order it for the sale price. There is no indication on the Nikon USA site of a date when the sale will end, but since it's a "Black Friday" sale, I would think it will last at least through Friday.

My thoughts, as well. I'd rather buy from a local independent business than from "big corporate" or "big box store".

I did that on KEH for my D7100 (about $198, body only, EX+) and D7200 ($350, body only, EX+). Have ZERO interest in mirrorless, but would love a D500. I'll stick with what I've got for the time being.

Taxes? Shipping cost / vendor? Shipping duration, such as 2-day vs random ground? Return policy and shipping cost, such a prepaid to vendor? Frequent buyer points? Old equipment trade-in discount?

Taxes? Unfortunately, all online sellers have to charge state sales tax if a state HAS a state sales tax.
Shipping? All are "free shipping".
Shipping duration? I don't care. Not in a hurry. Don't need it in "two days".

If you're so smart, why are you asking for help from strangers on the internet ... ?

And the retailers have actual sales more often than Nikon.

If you see sales on Nikon gear where the price differs from Nikon's prices, it is likely grey market or a scam. NikonUSA sets the prices that Nikon Authorized Dealers in the US sell at. If you want a Nikon USA warranty, that's the price you pay.

I buy much of my Nikon gear from Amazon at Nikon prices, but get 5% back through my credit card. It all comes with NikonUSA warranty. Of course, unless you pay that credit card off in full every month it may not be worth it.

I like Amazon because they deliver the items often same or next day.

I may have to go TWO months to get it taken care of this time, as there is a small existing balance on it right now. But I also get a rebate (Costco card) for purchases, so I think I'll still come out ahead.

If the price is the same, more or less, is there any advantage to ordering directly from Nikon as opposed to one of the other sellers such as Adorama, etc.?

If I buy a camera new or refurbished I buy from the manufacturer. The same goes for lenses.

B&H and Adorama will sometimes add in trinkets at no extra cost to sweeten the deal…?

At B&H I use my Payboo card and get out of the sales taxes. I do not know if Nikon or Adorama has the same set up.

When on Nikon's website, sometimes it doesn't show out of stock until you are in the cart or go to check out, so I go all the way there to see if Nikon has it in stock. Somewhere in there it shows you places to purchase.

Nikon & B&H offered me $400 for my D 810 which at the time had under 6k shutter count. Nikon sells the D810 refurbished (which means they go over the camera & offer a warranty) for around $2300. MPB offered $880. Just saying. The person at B&H said they had like 25 of them in stock. Supply & demand.
