As you've probably noticed before, strange things happen around my house.
Instead of using the riding mower to attack the leaves in the back yard, I thought I'd use the push mower, which I haven't used for months. The gas cap is gone. The mower was sitting outside under a small elevated building. No cap and no gas. I had a five-gallon gas can sitting there, and something chewed a 2" hole in the top. Before you ask, no, I didn't take the cap off and lose it. Strange, huh?
Looking online, there are probably two dozen different Briggs and Stratton gas caps, but I was able to find the correct one on Amazon - $8.35, delivered. I could have bought a gas tank with cap for $48. That's a lot for a small plastic tank.
I had a similar experience. Set the cap on the air cleaners of the riding mower and forgot to replace it. It found its way to the blade eventually, and ended up in pieces in the flower bed. Amazon had a replacement for 6 bucks. So convenient!

You said: "As you've probably noticed before, strange things happen around my house."
And I thought that it was just happening to me, sigh . . . .

There is only one explanation for this. All of your gadgets have been taken over by aliens you can't see, and they get pleasure out of torturing you.

The culprits are generally the little red tree rats. They pick up the scent of salt you left behind. The black and grey ones do the same.

Unfortunately, that sounds about right.

We have gray and some black around here. We seldom see red ones.
In a movie I saw recently, a farmer was complaining about the "Grays" coming and causing trouble. It was presented as if he were talking about the gray aliens, but he mean squirrels. Neat job of writing.

Just for a moment I thought you said a push mower. I should have realised there was a motor involved somewhere.

Same here. I was wondering why would a push mower have a gas cap?

Yes. It isn't self-propelled.

"Push" Mower = Mower with dead motor. (Size immaterial)

It comforts me to know that other people do things like this too.
