Bad Day at Bear River

I had to run errands in Ogden yesterday, so I left early to check out Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge. Rain was predicted and started by the time I left BRMBR. At first there was some sun, but conditions went cloudy and windy fast. The attached set is composed of shots I got just as I entered the auto route going around the main area.

I learned that the long lens setup (840mm with the 1.4 tc) was not conducive to noise free shots in that lighting. I must acknowledge the assistance of Topaz in the PP of these photos.

As always, your suggestions and comments are welcome.

I guess if you're expecting bear, you had a bad day. Otherwise you got a good catch there!

Great set of images!!!Mike
Rain does not always mean a bad day for photography, a little inconvenient yep, but great lighting for me anyway.
Hurricanes and Monsoons are another story

Thanks, Frank. I got some good landscapes, but the noise from the high ISO necessary to use the long lens made most of my shots of birds flying worthless.

Thanks, Jim, it was the number of BIF shots that came out way too noisy that depressed me. A long lens, low light and high ISO does not produce good results for me.
