I know the topic of printers has been discussed here often and a search on the topic provides a lot of information but most of it leans to higher end photo printers.
There is room on my desk and my budget for only one printer though, so I would like recommendations on all in one printers that do a decent job on photographs up to 8x10 and cost less than about $200.
Thanks,
Don
Best all in one printer
is the one that does what you need at a price you accept.
My opinion is to buy a black & white laser printer and bring your 8x10's to Walgreens or Costco or wherever. Inkjet printer manufacturers make money on ink so they can sell printers for cheap.
Look at HP printers. Excellent product, great support and their ink program is great.
I've been using a Canon all in one color laser printer for years, which periodically goes on sale at or near your price point. It works well and has very low operating costs.
I like my Epson ET-2760 with bottle ink. Ink cost is virtually non-existent.
Epson Eco-Tank can be had for $199. I just bought one for my daughter and son in law at Staples. Will print around 6000 color pages on one set of ink bottles. It will print decent proof quality photos. To get display quality will cost a lot more for a dedicated printer.

I Love my Epson Eco-Tank printer
I have an Epson 440 all in one. A bit slow on printing photos but I thing it does a good enough job.
A all-in-one printer is a compromise. My solution was to buy a cheep B&W printer with large cheep ink refills and a good photo printer. To do a photo print you will nee a multi color cartridge printer and the cost of the inks on that is high. I a long run In have found the two have more than paid for it self.
My prints are my finally of my work, with an expensive camera, computer and my time, so why cut corners with the end product.
I went through shopping for a new all-in-one recently, after my old Canon all-in-one died. I have a preference for Canon because I have found their support people to be excellent. I ended up buying the TR8620. It has a relatively small footprint. Will fax as well as copy, etc, and it has an auto sheet feeder. So far, so good. Its about $199. I found that printers can be hard to find in stock; I assume because of the nationwide chip shortage.
I don't remember the cost but I think it is in your range. I am very happy with my Epson XP-960. It Scans, copies and prints up to 11x17. It uses six inks and prints real pretty color pictures. Although I have never used it, it prints printable CDs.
I have an Epson WF-4830 that is $200 and has been reliable so far. One feature I appreciate is that it has a replaceable waste ink maintenance box available.
I've been using HP ink jet printers for decades. Very reliable and used by me sometimes far in excess of rated capacity. For the last 5+ years its been an 8710. Great multi-function ink jet. I don't find the ink costs to be extravagant, but you can save ink money on some of the Epson printers with refillable tanks. The 8710 is no longer in production, but its current version is the 9015e, available from Amazon for $250 (a bit above your range, I know). If you have a Capital One card you can get a $37 discount with Capital One shopping.
