This is one of our favorite places to hike when my wife and I visit my sister and her family each spring around April for Greek Easter. With 1,216 uninterrupted acres, Rollins Savanna is one of Lake County, Illinois' largest forest preserves. The habitat within the park is a testament to what prairie and wetland restoration can look like. Native grasslands roll across the preserve with scattered marshes and ponds throughout. Rollins is one of the best places in Lake County to find breeding grassland species that need quality habitat. A 5.6-mile trail with bridges and boardwalks encircles the preserve. This multi-use trail is open for hiking, bicycling, cross-country skiing, and nature/wildlife observation.
Please note that I took artistic license with these photos in post processing using Topaz and Luminar applications. It's fun for me!
Beautiful set! You really do hang out in all the cool places.

Very nice pictures. Kane, County, IL is another good area with trails and forest. The river trails are very nice.
