I have a Mac desktop and I am looking for a photo scanner to digitalization and process old prints. The two that stand out in reviews are the Eason V600 (flat bed scanner) and the Eason FastFoto Ff680W. The FastFoto has a document loader and is wireless but also more than twice the cost. My main concern is compatibility with the Mac, however. Any Mac owners that have used either of these scanners?

I've been using Epson for 25 years on my MAC's.

Epson comes with driver for Mac or PC. I have the V600. Works great but slower at high resolutions than the more spendy ones. Get VueScan too. It gives a few more features than the Epson software that comes with the scanner.

I’ve used Canon scanners in the past with a fair amount of success. I’m looking for a good scanner for slides. I had one that you had to load each slide separately, but what a pain. Any suggestions on that would also be appreciated.

I have used a V700 since 2014 and love it. Whatever you buy I would suggest you invest in Vuescan software. It will run any scanner made, offers the option to save scans as DNG files, and is constantly updated to add new scanners and features. The real beauty is you never have to learn new software if you buy a new scanner! It also runs old scanners that no longer have drivers for newer operating systems.

I have Epson V750 and Silverfast software. Works well and my experience suggests 3200dpi is the highest resolution from it.

Check out the PlusTek, (has 5 slide try) 35mm only and Silverfast, However; the program is extremely complex and has a steep learning curve. I do not know if the Plustek comes with a different program today.

My V600 has been working fine since 2009 - on a Windows machine.

I have the V600 and it works just fine with my 5-year-old iMac. The only problem I've ever had, was when it wouldn't work after an OS update. I had to go to Epsom's site and install new drivers but it wasn't difficult and it's worked fine with Big Sur and Monterey.

I have had the FF640 (the previous model to the FF680) for a few years now, first with my iMac and now with an M1 MacBook Pro - no problems in either case.

If you have a lot of prints to scan, I suggest the FastFoto - I've scanned a few thousand prints at this point - each scan generates three image files (given a, b and c designators) - the original scan, a version where the included software removes red eye, scratches, etc and improves colors that have faded, and a thirs scan of the back of the print. That back print scan allows you to add whatever comments might be written on the back of a print to the metadata file of the image (I do this in Lightroom, adding the commentary or whatever into the Caption field).

I do not regret having gotten the FastFoto for this purpose.

I've been using a V600 with my Mac Pro (late 2013) desktop for the past two years with zero problems.

You can run Epson scanners on the Mac just fine, either with the Epson driver, Epson Scan 2, or with SilverFast SE (free download with your Epson V600 serial number).

I had a V600… It was okay, but it is slow. Scanners are slow unless you spend a lot of money on commercial ones.

This PDF explains why I got rid of it.

Never heard or read anything about Eason. However, I've been using Epson scanners for over 20 years. Epson Perfection 3200 was the first one. It was recently upgraded to a V850 about a year ago. I do recommend Silverfast software to run them.

I bought an Epson V600 at the beginning of The Plague last year to digitize 60 years of slides and negatives. It worked great with my MacBook Pro and the Silverfast software that Epson gave me a link to.
