Fall on the Jordan River Trail

The Jordan River flows north to south through the Salt Lake Valley. The various municipalities have coordinated efforts to create a paved and improved path along the river in the middle of a largely suburban area. Our dogs love hiking here because of the level path and multitude of smells. Last Friday was a wonderful, clear fall day. We took them out for two hours, walking the Jordan River Trail between 114th and 126th and back.

As with many hikes in our area, each time you do there is something different to see. This time the migrant birds had not returned, there was no spring growth and snow was not present, but the shades and tones of fall were every where.

Suggestions and comments are welcome.

Thanks, Barbara, this is a bonus because it is in the middle of major suburban areas.

Nice series of images Mike, you sure had plenty of "Karin" moments, so I can see that these walks are not just made for walking, but also for resting and contemplation. I am impressed that the dogs totally ignored that feline wildlife!

Thanks, Joe, the trail is "urban," but presents beautiful views. The dogs are just too old to care.

Thanks, Ken, we really appreciate that someone took a step back and preserved this area and its wetlands.
