I got a bunch of DeWalt battery tools. Essential on the farm so you don't have to have thousand foot extension cords or a generator. One thing I use most is a flashlight. It uses a rechargeable battery and since I have a bunch of tools I always have a charged battery. And even if I leave the battery attached to the flashlight it doesn't leak and corrode the contacts. Have had it for a decade and it's always there when I need it. VERY unlike the old D cell flashlights I used to have around the house. The batteries were ALWAYS dead when I needed a flashlight.

How do you like the drill??? I'm thinking about replacing mine with that unit, as my older Dewalt the replacement battery for it is $175. Nope not paying that price, looke at off brand batteries for it and they start at $59, so probably just going for the new drill.

If your drill is 18 volt, there is a conversion kit that comes with an adapter, charger and two 20v batteries. $135 on Amazon. (also available at Rural King) I f you only have one tool it's probably not worth it, but if you have several tools it might be.

I find it interesting that cordless tools cost more than the corded versions. With hand tools, there is an electric motor, either 120v or 18v. With lawnmowers, the internal combustion engine is replaced with an electric motor. I wonder if they're charging for the convenience, or if there is a legitimate reason for the price difference.

Greenway plug-in mower - $119; battery version - $279
DeWalt 7 1/2" circular saw plug-in - $116 with tool bag; battery version $168

BUT............... They are "Eco-Friendly" according to the "Political Talking Heads" ha ha ha

Is that price, with or without the battery?

Without. Unless you buy a kit, it's always just the tool. The exception is generic tools, which often come with tool, battery, accessories for less than the price of a name-brand battery.

Purchased a Dewalt 20V Hammer drill with 2 batteries, charger in the hard plastic case sealed for under $145.00 when Sears was going out of business. This drill was on eBay in Las Vegas with Free Shipping and it had the Dewalt cardboard covering over the hard plastic case. This item was never used, mint in the box. Cannot beat the price. Manufacture date of the drill was 3 months old wen I purchased it from eBay and Dewalt still gave me the full 3 year warranty on the item also. The retail selling price that Dewalt was asking for this drill was close to $345.00. I got a good buy on this item. There are good buys out there you just have to watch what you purchase and if it is new or used. Buyer beware!

Good buys are good - if you can get them. I got some good deals with a recent "Buy One Get One Free" deal from DeWalt. Buy the two batteries and bag and get a fee tool.

How about this: DeWalt 20v drill, package comes with two batteries, carry case, drill, and charger, $99. Love the drill, went to buy a spare battery, single battery $59. A pack of two batteries was $79, so only $20 more to get a new drill, two batteries, a charger and carry case? Guess who now has two drills, four batteries, 2 chargers and two cases, one set for the garage and one for the cellar workshop.

"Neither a borrower nor a lender be."

If someone asks to borrow something, I either don't own one, or it's broken. So many things I've lent have disappeared. I'm still waiting for the return of a hard drive. It would have taken less than five minutes to copy the files, but it's been over six months now.

I have an adapter for Ryobi - I forget which way it goes. I'm limiting myself to DeWalt and Ryobi cordless.

With the price of batteries, I wouldn't be surprised to see someone develop a 120v adapter kit.

I often look at these posts, I wonder about all this 'price' references. Then I wonder to my self, have any of these guys know about pawn shops? You will need to look around and use your head.

Milwaukee corded variable speed Saws All, $34.
Milwaukee hole shooter (1/4 drill) Cordless, battery and charger, $46.
Milwaukee hole shooter (1/4 drill) Cordless, Hammer type, battery and charger, $54.
Milwaukee hole shooter (1/4 drill) Cordless, battery and charger, (yep another), $28.
Black and Decker Scroll saw, $24.
Milwaukee 7 1/4 skill saw, $22.
Power sander, $8.

Often these come with blades and additions, like the 10 inch motorized miter box, $67. Carbide tip 10 inch finish blade with it.

Best time to look is starting now, but, just before Christmas and the moth just after will flood the shops.

Hand tools are so abundant that chisels, screw drivers and hammers a 0ne to several dollars.

The one item that is like hen's teeth are scaffolds, never found a single one.

I do a load of studio photography and I build all manner of things.

And there are loads of 'clearance' items, like two years ago, Milwaukee 4 castor dollies, the castors would have run about $15 for four, but these came built or $8 each. And plastic bins with tops, called 'shoe boxes' at 18 cents a piece. Had to get a buddy with pick up to take the two pallets and I paid him with a 1/4 of a pallet for his trouble.

Big Lots Store sells carbide tip blades in many sizes for between $2 to $8. I have several years supply on nails in the garage. But, no, no wife to ask what I need all this for. I do have women models and a sister who found that the plastic bins marked 'shoe box' with lid the perfect place for their shoes!
