I have no idea why some folks seem to feed photographically on human misery. I have never taken photos like this down all the decades, and never will.

I see a guy with a massive hangover waking up. I doubt he knows or cares someone is taking his picture, he's sleeping on a public sidewalk after all.
Other than that, I don't notice anything other than he seems in better shape than most street people sleeping on public sidewalks. His hair and beard are neatly trimmed. Could be newly distressed, could be staged, could be most anything.

At first I thought the pillow or blanket by his head was the sole of a boot and that he was all contorted. After consideration I see a homeless Vet preparing himself for another day.

So here’s the story. I posted the photograph because, to me, it just did not relate at all to what had happened.
This guy had been sitting against the wall, taking in the sun when I passed him the first time. About ten minutes later, he was preparing to take a nap. I stood there as he lay down, rubbed his face vigorously several times, put his head down, and I guess went to sleep. He was totally unaware of me or my camera.
I grabbed a couple of shots while he was rubbing his face.
To me the photo looked, especially with my dark shadow, as if I was menacing him, which absolutely was not the case.
