Firstly let me thank all those who gave me advise all of it most welcome. By the next day I had pretty much worked out the route I was going to go based on the considerations I had mentioned - price and weight! The first two lenses on a list of about 9 that I made based on the various reply's to my original request.
1) Sigma 100-400-f/4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM.
2) Tamron 100-400 f/4.5, 6.3, DI, VC, USD.

After Looking at various reviews reading and re-reading the the information supplied by your good selves and looking at numerous Youtube videos on the two Lenses on my shortlist - I decided for better or worse on the Tamron. The first outlet I visited had none in stock but ordered one which was expected to take two to three weeks. When I got home I decided to browse a bit more and found a retailer that not only had them in stock but were selling at £105.00
cheaper and could deliver for free the next day. My Tamron arrived during lunch today. However bad weather came with it so it looks like Friday before I can try it out. Expect an update in about a week or less.
