A total game changer. I am getting better with it. But still a few things I haven't mastered.

I haven’t had a chance to really get into it, but what I’ve tried so far has been impressive. Each LR update has introduced more impressive tools. I now have to go to PS less and less after each update to LR.
This 10.00 a month to Adobe is the best investment I have ever made in my photography hobby.

Is there a way to invert your selection? For example, if I select subject but want to replace the entire background, is that possible?

Yes, there is an invert command in the dropdown

I think -- THINK -- in the box where "Subject" is selected there's three dots. Click on those and select "Invert". There's a good YouTube video on this by Anthony Morganti.

Where I am still struggling is when I select subject, and then add to or subtract from with a brush and then want to invert. This is where it goes wrong for me.

Yes, there is an invert button. Also there is a way to add or subtract from the selection. What I am finding, so far, is that the select sky function has a bit of halo effect (can't remember the technical name) where the sky meets the horizon or buildings...and I, so far, have not seen a way to refine the edge as one can do in PS. But still working on it.

It is not an investment. It is a cost. And to think what I used to spend on film and processing. I couldn't pick up my Nikon without thinking about the cost of each push on the shutter button.

I started a topic on Lightroom Classic 11 a few days ago. You might enjoy reading some of the posts.

It is an investment up to the point where you learn everything it can do. THEN it's a cost.

The new masking format that includes Select Sky and Select Object is very very good!
