I was really happy to turn 70 because my doctor told me that I no longer needed a colonoscopy so I didn't have to go through drinking the gallon of goo in preparation (the last time it was 4 liters of goo). I guess I'm old enough to be just written off.
I went in to the doctors office a couple weeks ago and they gave me two wrist bands. One had my name and birthdate and the other was a red one that was supposed to say "Fall Risk". But the way it got put together, it just said "Risk".

You may no longer need a "screening colonoscopy" - but that does not mean that you should not be evaluated if you develop any changes in bowel activity, pass blood, develop unusual abdominal pain, etc. But if you have had several normal colonoscopies your risk of developing colon cancer is lower and as you get older the risk of any procedure gets higher, so you do get to the point where risk outweighs benefits.
I had a patient tell me one time that her mother had recently died from complications of a screening colonoscopy. This woman was in her 60's, so of course I asked how old her mother was - she was 93! "Good Lord", I thought - "what were they planning on doing if they found something"???
Excellent! I'm sending this to a colonoscopy nurse I know.
I feel sorry for her. She works with a-holes all day.

It sounds like he's written you off.
A couple of years ago had some dental work done. The dentist then used a miniature video camera at the end of a dental probe to show me a close up of his work and the inside of my mouth. I told him the video reminded me of pictures of a colonoscopy only with teeth. He didn't think that was funny. But then he is a dentist. And in the words of Jerry Seinfeld "the only difference between a sadist and dentist is newer magazines."
I get one every year now so I can truly relate.
Too funny!! Thanx for collecting these songs that inspire deep insight.

I recently turned 76 and my doctor told me I needed to schedule my colonoscopy? So much for medical standards.

Probably depends on your medical history and risk factors.

I hear you. However, I’ve had three colonoscopies over the years and all three have come back fine?

Maybe you need a new doctor.
(Probably you shouldn't ask for a second opinion in case a new doctor would want a more detailed colonoscopy [Colonoscopy Plus?]).
