Ant mimic, but a good one! This is a broad-headed bug, which is a Hemipteran that feeds on seeds.

If we were to rotate rwilson1942's unusual photo so that this organo-machine in a more high school textbook-like pose... horizontal, with the head pointing to the right, then we see what a really strange looking ant-like eye/brain deceiving creature this is.

Mark Sturtevan identified the guise "Ant Memic." But why this disguise? The answer is one of survival, "potential predators that rely on vision to identify their prey, such as birds and wasps, normally avoid them, because they are either unpalatable or aggressive"
