And look at the help they offer ...

shoot in RAW
shoot in Manual
buy a book on Exposure
your camera is the wrong brand
your camera doesn't have enough pixels
you're not a photographer if you don't own the most expensive camera
you're not a photographer if you edit in 8-bit
you can't succeed if your camera has a mirror

It's enough to make someone just use their phone ...

Which is exactly what they are doing.

How well you defined it! And with the SHORT list!

I disagree with Jerry's premise. Yes there are a lot of choices to be made. However the advent of digital cameras and immediate feedback have shortened the learning curves immensely. Furthermore there are lots of quality sources of information to figure things out. Talk to old timers who didn't have light meters and had to just rely on their experience to ply their craft.

These days the path from something catching your eye to having a finished image is much smoother. Just ask a pro whose livelihood has been squeezed by all the newcomers.

Some say "GAS" like it's a bad thing!!!??? :-) the solution is simple: "take two credit cards and call B&H, Adorama,etc...in the morning." Pardon me while I go make room on the shelf for the Z9. (tongue in cheek)

UHH has been very helpful solving problems for me. As an adult I know how to sort through many types of people and their responses. There are thousands of people on this forum. Instead of being offended I occasionally get a kick out of the few goofies and their comments

I have the same sentiments about this forum like you, I’m not checking other photography forums but I believe they will not be any different since the same people are posting their opinions and comments, we all should be free to agree and disagree. (I don’t know who said that) but I agree.

On any forum there will always be a few opinionated people. I find the fewest of them on this forum and have learned so much about photography on UHH.

None of those are correct…so why do you repeatedly proclaim the last one with your posts?

You are correct. None of his statements are correct. But they are all responses usually made to such questions innocently asked by newbies. And his is the short list. What he is saying, is that the newbie gets overwhelmed by these responses from the self proclaimed experts, and just says, "To hell with it, I'll just use my phone."

Exactly. I have been scanning 60 year old pictures and some of them are pretty good, many not. It is funny how our taste changes.
