I bought a used camera from KEH which developed problems soon after I received it. KLH agree to repair it, but from what it says this could take weeks. Has anyone here had a situation like this and how did it go.

I have not had your issue but maybe they have a comparable camera and you can work out a swap. Just a thought.

Urnst If you are not happy with KEH's position on your Warranty, then call them at 1-770-333-4200 and ask for a Refund... Especially if it is within their initial 30 day period... Otherwise, patience is a precious commodity.

KEH Policy verbatum: "Our 180-Day Warranty Assures Your Satisfaction

Take the hassle out of your buying experience—KEH has your back.

Should your equipment be defective, we will repair it. If repair is not possible, we will issue you either a replacement product (above or one grade below the received condition), or a refund. Shipping is provided by us to facilitate your return/repair.

The following grades are covered under warranty: Like New (LN), Like New Minus (LN-), Excellent Plus (EX+), Excellent (EX), and Bargain (BN), excluding any equipment denoted as “inoperable.” Our warranty does not cover Ugly (UG) or As-Is (AI) grades, batteries, bulbs, and material and non-mechanical defects. Damage resulting from misuse or neglect including from drops, water, sand, or tampering by anyone other than KEH Camera’s repair team will void the warranty.

If you have any questions about our warranty, please call us at 1-770-333-4200 and we'll be happy to help."

Urnst I buy all my cameras refurbished by and from Nikon USA.
Worth the peace of mind... never had a problem.

I buy lot's of used vintage glass from KEH... They typically have some of the most hard to find lenses available.
And their 30 return policy is to be cherished... I also avoid all AF-S and AF-P lenses and also those with VR.
Love AI; AI-s; AF and AF-D lenses... no worries about them going bad or needing parts... especially the "Pro-Grade" Nikkors... many are built with the precision of a Swiss Watch.

And yes I have AF-S & VR glass that I use on "Event" assignments. There they are to be cherished for what they bring to the image equation.

Hope this helps Urnst,
And please relax... KEH is an honorable company, they are not going to rip you off...

All the best with your previously own camera Urnst

Yes, KEH has backed my purchases also. I bought a 5DII as a FF backup body a few years ago and it came without a focusing screen. I sent it to Canon Prof. Sevices to be cleaned and have a screen put in. CPS told me the main dial was slipping and not engaging 100%, so no further steps were taken. KEH replaced that body with another within a week, which is still a backup body I keep handy.

I have an old Rolleiflex. Due to age and disuse the mechanical parts were sticking. It was hard to adjust exposure and the shutter and self-timer were sticking. I sent it to KEH for repair. The repair involved removing the leather that is glued to the camera body and then reinstalling it. There was a flat fee of $375. When it came back it was perfect. The leather showed no signs of being removed and replaced, the lenses were pristine and the camera worked like new. I checked every function and everything works like new. It requires a lot of skill to repair a Rolleiflex Twin Lens Reflex and they have that skill. I am impressed with KEH.

If it's a Nikon, getting parts could be a problem. Nikon doesn't offer parts to "outsiders."

I have bought Canon cameras and lenses from KEH. Over time when they needed repair I always sent it out to Canon Repair. They were always prompt and did a good job.

And....Now I cry.
I Truly miss Rolleiflex TLRs. Either my 3.5 Planar, 3.5 Triotar (not Rolleicord), or 2.8 Xenotar. Magnificent machines that produce outstanding, predictive results - even from the Triotar triplet from the 1930s. I would still be shooting film if I still had one - my scanner was set up for 6x6 film.
Ok, enough of that......

Please excuse the Off Topic...

KEH advises me that they don't have a replacement camera in stock so it will undertake the repair of the defective one it sold me. No word on how long the repair will take.

You should have taken the above advice and got an immediate refund. From your other thread on this I understand the repair was not satisfactory and you have no recourse. If anything is not satisfactory I return it for a replacement or a refund. I don't get anything repaired. What camera was this and how much did it cost you? Can you use it?
