I hear you! Just found out they will accept WesternUnion which is traceable.
You appear to be a sincere, honest person who thinks everyone else is also. Sadly, that’s not always true. Traceable doesn’t guarantee you’ll get the dog (if there is one) or your money back. All it might do is tell you who got the money which will more than likely be a fake identity.
SCAM SCAM SCAM
My wife found a pup we were interested in and emailed the breeder who claimed to be about 50 miles away in Michigan. After some correspondence and price agreement we notified them we wanted to visit and if acceptable we would buy it. Surprise, surprise, they had just moved to North Carolina but they would be happy to ship the pup to us. No way would we subject the pup to that, plus we though it was very suspicious. It's a shame, few have any ethics any more. How did we get here?
We have raised and shown dogs for fifty years now and we have finished nearly 75 of our dog championships over these years.
I would NEVER feel comfortable with anyone asking for any payment that appears skeptical in any way unless I were to personally pick up the pup at the time of the transaction for "dog sales" are a far too common scam where people use pictures of puppies taken from the internet posing as theirs.
We do hold the papers on the dogs we sell until payment has been fully processed and that the new owner is happy with their puppy from us. We place our finished champions in loving homes at no cost to the new owners for we try to keep our family of dogs to a limit of five or six.

Doesn't sound legit. I think I would stay away and keep looking.

When I was looking for a Maine Coon kitten, I found a website that evaluated breeder websites for both dogs and cats. Can't remember the name of the site but I googled "pet breeder scams" and got lots of hits, some with identified scam sites and plenty of tips for finding good sites. Good luck.

Has anyone had success with purchasing a puppy online? I’ve read some warnings, and am trying to get the breeder to provide more information for a Western Union payment. They first wanted to use Zelle, but my bank doesn’t have that option. Apple Pay was another option, but I can’t get it to work. “Recipient Cannot receive at this time” message returned. Suggested PayPal, but they didn’t have a PP account. Will not accept Credit Cards. They would accept prepaid gift cards from CVS or Walgreens. Choosing not to do that per Scam warning about using PP cards.
Warning signs are flashing, yet I really want that pup. Any thoughts on what I can do to verify the legitimacy of this breeder?

Western Union is your worst option! If they can't set up a PayPal acct., it is a scam! Run!!

I've only read through the first page of responses and it looks like the majority are warning of a scam. I'm not in the market for a pet, but if I was I'd go local and adopt a rescue animal. Good luck.

Hi Moose... Listen my friend, THIS is a scam! I understand you want a special breed, and this "breeder" supposedly has it. BUT, I wouldn't trust them as far as I can lift and throw a grand piano! No matter what breed of dog you want, there are other breeders of the same kind of dog. BE PATIENT, do your do-diligence and look for another breeder. Reputable breeders will also want your background before they release a puppy to YOU. They want to know that their pups are going to a good home also. And, as far as payment, a reputable dealer will take other types of payment.
I hope this helps you out.

I agree with limeybiker. There are so many lives that need to be rescued. Two months ago I was looking for a Border Collie, but rescued a 4YO Queens Heeler Australian Cattle dog. and he is one great dog. A perfect fit for me. You can be selective. Might not be the exact breed you want, but there is a four footed friend out there just waiting for you to rescue it.
I hate to say it, but do they also sell bridges in London, and magic beans?

Do magic beans give you magic gas.

Thanks for the input. I’ve back out trying to buy from them. Refusal to supply Names and address, and non-traceable payment methods. They did ask for my information, regarding the environment for the dog, so that was a start towards some legitimacy, but so many other issues. Now checking with breeders locally, or within driving distance.

I'm glad you heeded your instincts and opinions of the majority of the responders here on UHH.

I volunteer as a photographer at a rescue shelter. You would be sickened by the poor animals that come in from some of these puppy mills. Starving, inbred, disease infected and worse. You must see the puppy, check it’s vet records and registration. You want a feeling that will haunt you for a very long time? Buy a puppy like this under questionable conditions and even if you do actually get the puppy have to euthanize it in 4weeks because there was an undisclosed condition.
Get in touch with the AKC and ask if they have any registered breeders of the breed you want in your area. Those should be reputable dealers with AKC registered, healthy animals.
