This item was left by tenants who rented my son and DIL's home in Alaska while my kids were stationed overseas with the military. My son sent me the photo and asked my opinion, but I got nothing. Serious replies preferred but will accept some tongue in cheek responses. TIA
If your son is still in AL I'd have him ask the locals if they can help him. My bro-in law/Sis are not there any longer but was a missionary to the Inuets. Also, they is an Inuet museum on the left side of the road to Fairbanks from Anchorage.
If it is something the Inuets would use they could help but possibly be interested in it.
Messaged my son, asked him the dimensions of it and he said about 8'6" long, about 4' high and about 1'6" wide. He also talked with the property manager they used and he said he recalled it being there after some minor damage repair work was done from the earthquake that occurred in 2018. Still not sure what it was/is. More news as I get it.
Thanks for looking in and replying.
Looks like it could be up side down in the photo. If changed it looks like it could hold large photos or plywood sheets or drywall at angle of near 45% for display or what ever but that portion in the middle would be unnecessary.

Ski tuning rack.
Mount a ski on it and resurface the base and tune the edges.

I saw something like this used by a wall paper hanger that could also do dry wall. Hope this helps
A good "mind teaser" for sure. Although I don't know what it is, I can say that it is very well constructed so it must have been something that would be used for a specific purpose.
I've been looking around and asking around and can't come up with anything
All sound like plausible answers, but no definitive response from the kid.
