My Epson Artison 730 all-in-one color printer died, and Epson says it can't be fixed, so I am loooking for a replacement 8-1/2x11 color printer. It does not have to be an all-in-one. I am looking in the $150 to $250 range. Digital Camera Magazine recommends a Canon TS9120/9150 but I can't find that model in the US, even on the Canon web site. What would you recommend?

Depends on your needs....
I've had a Canon TR8520 (All-in-One) for a while, works nicely for my needs. Prints 8x12s also.
Possibly the TR8620 replaced it? ≈$200.

An ink tank printer will save you money on ink. I have an Epson ET-2760. I've printed over 3,000 pages, and the tanks are about half full. I still have ink left in the bottles. A full set of ink bottles costs about $65.

I have an Epson EXP-960 and it is a great photo printer. It has been replaced with this one at $299, https://epson.com/For-Home/Printers/Photo/Expression-Photo-XP-970-Small-in-One-Printer/p/C11CH45201 check for sales or promos. I will even print CDs, DVDs and BluRay discs. It's a little more than your anticipated price range, but great. Mine is over three years old and still prints like new. This is a true photo printer, not to be confused with ink tank printers.

Print professional-quality, wide-format photos with the Expression® Photo XP-970 Small-in-One. Producing stunning, borderless photos up to 11" x 17", the XP-970 gives your photos astounding vibrancy with 6-color Claria® Photo HD Inks. This fast, compact printer delivers 4" x 6" photos in as fast as 11 seconds1 and can even print from smartphones and tablets2 for easy printing on the go. Designed with your convenience in mind, it includes a 4.3" touchscreen for PC-free printing and a fold-over scan lid that securely holds originals in place. Plus, with specialty media support3, you can print directly onto specialty papers, CDs and DVDs for even more creative flexibility.

I have an Epson 440. It’s slow to print photos but it does a decent job for being only 4 cartridges. I’m not fussy in my prints.

Thank you all. I considered a tank printer, but I only print occasionally, so I am not sure that is the best choice. I have a separate scanner that has a copy function through my computer and laser printer, so I don't need to buy an all-in-one.

The main drawback of my Artison 730, which produced beautiful color photographs, was that the ink was not generally available in any of the local office supply or electronics store, and had to be ordered on line I do wish to avoid that problem.

Speed is not an issue, but I am fussy about the quality.

I didn't need an AIO (All-In-One) either as I have a flatbed USB scanner, but I have used the FAX function as well as the multiple page feed for the scanner on the AIO. (I print more documents than photos.)

I have a Canon 6350 A4 - 3 in 1. I have been continually surprised at the quality of the photo printing. Paper feed is perfect, and is from front tray or rear. (Rear feed is good for thicker photo papers as it doesn't roll the paper). WiFi enabled. Works from my lap top.

I have an Epson ET-4550 Tank All-In-One, and like Jerryc41 I love mine.
Just like a McDonald's ad, Thousands, and Thousands printed.
I'm still using the ink provided with the unit.
However, others are jumping on board the "Tank" format.

Thank you all for your comments, which I appreciate. I key, but unanticipated, factor is current availability. Due to the chip shortage, many of the recommened printers are simply not available for the forseeable future.

My Epson XP7100 all-in-one just died, rather suddenly. I immediately called Epson who confirmed that it was hardware failure..dead. My top priority is photos, so I decided on the 6 cartridge 8600 small-in-one for $250. The photo quality is great; however, it doesn't have the ADF feature, which I will miss..Good thing I'm retiring from my real estate career!

Thanks. I decided on the 8100 6-cartridge all-in-one, as it has the same printing specs as my dead 730, which I was happy with. Also, I had a 15% courtesy discount from Epson.

I have a WF-4740 all-in-one. Nice unit, augments my P-700.
