Request for Repair Recommendation

My 60 year-old M-mount Leitz Tele-Elmarit f 2.8/90 has interior haze, probably fungus (where does it come from?). Does anyone know and recommend a service facility that would disassemble, clean and restore to pristine condition?
Recommendations welcomed.

Is it interfering with your pictures?

I would contact Leica. Camera repair is expensive, so be prepared. Let us know how this turns out.

"...This lens is known for getting haze on the rear lens group and, as far as I am aware, despite plenty of conjecture, nobody has come up with a definite reason. Sometimes it can be cleaned with no problem and sometimes it never occurs. Sometimes it won't fully clean. I have a copy which is clear of it. I'd suggest getting it looked at by a Leica lens specialist to see if it can be cleaned. As it is it will reduce contrast to some degree and shadow detail may suffer as a result. That said, you may be hard pressed to see this in many photographs and it is unlikely to have any great impact unless it significantly worsens...

Or simply purchase a "Clean" copy of the Tele ELMARIT Chrome F 2.8 90MM LEICA M Mount Lens LEITZ Clean Glass https://www.amazon.com/ELMARIT-CHROME-LEICA-MOUNT-LEITZ/dp/B016CGF6ZO for $339.99

Hope this helps or is at least food for thought...

I've had to have 1 lens repaired, and was recommended to the following: Southern Photo Technical Services
(305) 653-7355 https://www.sp-ts.com/ Authorized repair center for Nikon, Canon & all manufacturers. Used by AFP, UP & AP. Work was stellar. Repair was within 2 weeks Shipping container to return item was superb.

Unfortunately that ad is for a ( mis labeled) Elmarit, not the shorter tele-elmarit.

They are excellent ask to speak to issac. Also, I recommend that you also contact the Leica store in Miami. They are extremely helpful. If you are not familiar with the Leica store, Josh Lerner and David Farkas have a live stream on Saturdays at 8 pm on Utube to talk about Leica gear as well as to give general phot tips. The tele~elmarit is my favorote Leica lens. They also sell used equipment. Since you probably will have to buy a used lens if you want to replace this, I.e, the 2.8 small version of the 90 mm be careful that you are not getting one with the Sam problem due to age. The Leica store is extremely reliable.

This Leica M2 rode out Hurricane Katrina on a high closet shelf. Friend gave it to me when he finally got back into his house. It was a “Brick” with minor leather tearing. I sent it to DIGITECH CAMERA REPAIR in the Los Angeles area. Phone # +1 626-577-2001. Call first.. Owner goes by John B. He will answer. This was in 2006/7. Since then I have used him exclusively for Leica, Voigtlander, and Sony (digital) servicing. The Grey Griptac covering was by another firm in the northeast.

If it isn’t worth fixing or cost prohibitive, he will let you know up front. Good Luck

When I had Leica rangefinders (1958-2006 or so) the individual names I heard mentioned most often for repairs were Sherry Krauter and Don Goldberg (sometimes just referred to as DAG.) Both had independent repair operations with impeccable reputations.

Thanks Wrangler. DAG just did a CLA on my M3 dbl stroke which I intend to sell soon.
