After a several month break from UHH, I started to miss my old stomping ground, and have returned. What surprises me is the lack of interest in the Brian Laundrie/Gabby Petito incident. I am curious as to what my fellow hoggers would do if he was there son. To make things simple, the choices are turn him in to law enforcement, do nothing, and tell him he is on his own, or help him evade capture.
When Brian Laundrie is finally caught, his parents will then have to face the authorities as to their complicity in him fleeing. The FBI (or insert appropriate law enforcement), will then reverse track his movements. If they lead to his parents, they'll likely be prosecuted for aiding/abetting, hindering, just wh**ever is appropriate.
Utah law enforcement really dropped the ball. On suspected domestic violence, they're supposed to take both parties into custody, so the stories can be verified. On the videos I've seen Miss Petito is obviously distressed, and she even admitted to striking Laundrie.

Seems like law enforcement screwed up big time. Had they separated the couple, Gabby would still be alive, and Brian would not be on the run
It would be a difficult decision. Especially now that they know he k**led her. He likely gave them a story when he showed up without her.
I always told my sons I’d support them no matter what. In this case once I knew I’d tell him to turn himself in and get him psychological help. I’d support him throughout what comes next. I wouldn’t support hiding.

I would be torn, but probably turn him in.... Hard choice when it comes down to your own child.

That's not necessarily true, they probably would have been back together in a few days and had they arrested him as they were supposed to do then he probably would have been further agitated.
I would tell him to man up and turn himself in…if he didn't then I would turn him in. Simple.

I agree about the, "screwed up" thing. In most states, any domestic violence incident calls for a mandatory arrest. Watching the video, it's heartbreaking to see the many clues that the police chose to ignore and then give the bad advice, to separate for the night and get back together tomorrow.
Had he been arrested and served with a no-contact order, she might be alive today.

Hope he's dead in the Florida wilderness so he won't be such an embarrassment.

I would encourage him to turn himself in and I wouldn’t cover for him.
I might drive him to the police station but I would not have aided him in his escape.

You can’t definitively say that. How could you ensure they would never get together again?

The news today is that they found partial human remains near what appears to be his backpack.
Supposedly his parents led authorities to the area where the remains were found.

So they lied about when he took off, and they lied about not having any idea where he went.
I think Gabby's parents should sue Brian's parents for raising a murderer and lying about it.

They might be successful if they can prove (50.1%), that the parents abetted the son in the after-murder coverup and getaway. Last I read, though, lots of parents have children who turn out to be criminals of all types. Apparently not a crime. If that's his body in the swamp, law enforcement might still be able to backtrack or "reverse engineer" the events after Gabby's murder.
