For some reason this one didn't want to load with the previous set, so I'll give it a try as a singleton. 5 shots, hand held. D3 AF Nikkor 75-300 1:4.5-5.6

Had to resize it - first time from this camera!

Thanks! I might see anything on this stretch of road. All kinds of wildlife, plants, scenery, etc. The more flexibility I have in focal length, the more chance I have of catching something interesting. Have used this lens successfully on a variety of cameras. First time on the D3, won't be the last. Not ideal for scenery, but it works.

I carry two or three bodies with the glass I might use attached. Currently I my 500pF attached to my D850. My 70-200 is hooked up to my D500. 300pf is on my D7200. I swap out the 500pF to the D500 when I might see high-speed critters. For close-up stuff, then my 105G 2.8 on the D850. I have a Cotton carry rig that allows two camera to be carried and a third in hand. When my legs are in reasonable working order this set-up works quite well. Reasonably fast deployment, the shoulder harness is light and securely holds the bodies with big glass firmly.

I do the same on photo jaunts, but not when doing errands. Even out here, I am not keen on leaving too much expensive gear in the car. The D3 and 75-300 together would squeak in under $700. In addition to my appreciation of its capabilities it would be my least costly Nikon to replace, ex the D2x which isn't quite as flexible.

Ach so. My walk-around rig is my 300pF on either my D7200-lightest- or D500- best, quickest auto focus. No battery grip.

Wonderful shots. I don't have the camera/lens problem. One D 7200 and five lenses.

OMG you're right, I have one to many: Short tele 70-300; long tele 200-500; 90mm macro; 18-55 wide angle. Which one should I get rid of?

I think about it, but flash back to "He who dies with the most toys wins". In some societies they even buried all your good stuff with you! If it actually came along to the Afterlife...
